The White Train
The White Train

A secret train - carrying nuclear missiles and protected by the most lethal anti-terrorist devices available - has vanished without a trace.

The President receives a fax in the Oval Office, the contents of which carry an impact of icy terror. His efforts to place nuclear warheads in the hands of an unfriendly Third World nation, to achieve a strategic advantage for the United States, has started to unravel.

The fax, signed by a mysterious militant group, has a simple ransom demand - one the President can neither meet nor acknowledge.

The President must rely on a shady cast of unscrupulous advisors and ruthless agents to effect the return of the train to its mission, without going public, alarming the American people or incurring the wrath of the Congress of the United States.

All that stands in the way of this highly illegal and clandestine mission's success is a strange alliance between an Air Force special operative, an investigative reporter for the Washington Post and a world-renowned anthropologist.

Table of Contents

Oh the webs we weave… Deception certainly leads to danger in The White Train. Power is a lusty possession and very often one can lose sight of what is right when power wiggles her hips in temptation. The President of the United States is not immune to this lust and when his advisors are caught up in the game, the result can affect the world.

In a deal unknown to the Congress, the President has promised delivery to North Korea a shipment of nuclear warheads. Making their way across country via The White Train, the plan is to deposit them onto a submarine. But the train disappears. In a faxed notice, the President is made aware that the train has been taken and is being held hostage. Who would benefit from this threat? And what can he do? Following the word from a most devious advisor, the president adds strands to a web that could potentially strangle the world in a death grip.

An Air Force Special Operative is sent on the trail of the train, only to become a threat to the president’s plan. Going public is not an option. Calling in the FBI and CIA is not something that can be easily explained to the public. The President, in fear of being exposed, makes the mistake of giving his Chief of Staff too much power. The Special Operative, Jamey Buckmaster, begins a mad dash to find out the truth, save his own skin and potentially save the United States from a nuclear disaster. He is not alone though, as an elderly Native American Indian has tipped off one the most revered newspaper reporters in the world. Millie Appleton of The Washington Post is a powerful woman with a nose for uncovering the truth. Will it be enough to overcome the evil that deceives the American public?

Larry Purcell lays out a plot along the lines of John Grisham. The White Train offers the reader suspense, surprises and satisfaction. Purcell has at last given justice to the true Americans, and warns the powers that be that such games as these should not be played. With obviously thoroughly researched details, the author gives us a scary glimpse of something that is believably possible. In the ultimate in Presidential scandal, The White Train will push you to turn pages in the hopes that justice will prevail on numerous levels.
