Theological Exegesis of Scripture: Volume II: The Historical Books
There are many books about theological exegesis; there are far fewer books of theological exegesis. This volume on the historical books is the second in a six-volume work of theological exegesis which will span select passages from the whole of the Christian Bible. The aim is to read Scripture according to its theological shape as a witness to the living claim of God upon church and world made known in Jesus Christ. The book, and the series, is intended for teachers, pastors, students, and readers attentive to the theological and spiritual dimensions of the biblical witness in all its brilliance and mystery.

What People are Saying About This

From the Publisher

“Preachers and teachers and all lovers of Scripture take note: Paul McGlasson’s companion to the biblical history of Israel, from the crossing of the Jordan to the restoration following exile, overflows with profound insights about how God’s surprising grace overcomes the resistance of a stiff-necked humanity. Blessedly free of jargon, it will feed souls hungry for the good news found only in the Bible.”

—Mark D. Tranvik, professor of Reformation history and theology, Luther Seminary, St. Paul, Minnesota

Praise for the first volume

“Fully aware of the troubled times in—and to—which he writes, McGlasson offers readers the opportunity to encounter afresh the living theology of the first five books of the Bible. Elegantly, often lyrically, written and deeply grounded in the history of biblical reception, Theological Exegesis of Scripture is an assured and vital work of biblical theology.”

—Christine Helmer, Peter B. Ritzma Professor of the Humanities, Northwestern University
