About the Author

Maxine was the fourth of nine children born to Willis and Bina Lane Albro in 1924. They were ranchers who lived near Willow Creek, Montana. Through 4H, she learned sewing and gardening and was active in gymnastics, basketball, skating and dancing, all of which she later encouraged in her children and grandchildren. She remained a fitness buff throughout her life. She married Dean Pogreba from Three Forks who was killed in the Vietnam war in 1965. Maxine returned to Montana and retired in Bozeman.
