Overview

"Sexy heroes, strong heroines, intelligent plots, enchanting love stories... Grace Burrowes's romances have them all." -Mary Balogh

A MAN WITH MANY TALENTS
As a captain in the army, Colin MacHugh led men, fixed what was broken, and fought hard. Now that he's a titled gentleman, he's still fighting-this time to keep his bachelorhood safe from all the marriage-minded debutantes. Then he meets the intriguing Miss Anwen Windham, whose demure nature masks a bonfire waiting to roar to life. When she asks for his help to raise money for the local orphanage, he's happy to oblige.

Anwen is amazed at how quickly Lord Colin takes in hand a pack of rambunctious orphan boys. Amazed at how he actually listens to her ideas. Amazed at the thrill she gets from the rumble of his Scottish burr and the heat of his touch. But not everyone enjoys the success of an upstart. And Colin has enemies who will stop at nothing to ruin him and anybody he holds dear.

Editorial Reviews

OCTOBER 2017 - AudioFile

This second book in the Windham Brides series follows the story of Anwen Windham and Colin MacHugh, an Irish lord. Narrator James Langton does an admirable job delivering the voice of the Scotsman MacHugh as he takes his place in English society and romances Anwen. Langton’s deep, commanding voice serves as the perfect backdrop to the developing romance. His portrayals of Anwen and the other female characters are less convincing. In particular, the vivacious and headstrong heroine sounds breathy and dreamy rather than the strong and determined woman she is. As Anwen and Lord MacHugh grow closer, they’re drawn into mystery and intrigue. Listeners will be eagerly awaiting the next entry in this series. E.N. © AudioFile 2017, Portland, Maine

From the Publisher

"Top Pick! Burrowes has grown into an author whose delightful plotlines, heartfelt emotions, humor and realistic, honest characters have turned her Windham series spinoffs into a fan favorite. The atypical, independent, strong characters, meddling family and friends, mischievous urchins, and a theft turn this installment into a gem of a read. Then add plenty of sizzle and a dangerous mission to make this a keeper. 4 ½ stars."—RT Book Reviews on Too Scot to Handle

The Windhams have been popular with readers since Burrowes released The Heir (2010). This offshoot featuring the nieces to the Duke and Duchess of Moreland gives fans even more time with these fascinating folks, especially the younger men. Here, Anwen Windham is devoted to her orphanage and finds assistance from a Scottish lord both helpful and distracting.
