About the Author

Michele Hensley, M.S., has 17 years of teaching experience at the high school and middle school levels in San Antonio, Texas, and Omaha, Nebraska. For nine years, she worked with teachers and school administrators as a consultant and trainer for Boys Town. Hensley is a co-author of Tools for Teaching Social Skills in School, and is a science instructor at Boys Town High School.


Jo C. Dill on is currently a site coordinator and Catholic schools coordinator with Boys Town’s Education Training Department. A 13-year employee of Boys Town, she previously taught religion classes and helped pilot the Reading Is FAME® reading program at Boys Town’s Wegner School. She is a co-author of Tools for Teaching Social Skills in School. During her more than 28 years as a teacher, Dillon taught in schools in Gretna and Omaha, Nebraska; Denver, Colorado; and Des Moines, Iowa.


Denis Pratt serves as a trainer/consultant for teachers and administrators with Boys Town’s Education Training Department. Pratt is also a co-author of Tools for Teaching Social Skills in School. She previously served as an experiential educator, teaching interpersonal skills to individuals from second-graders to adults. Her students included public-, private-, and home-schooled children, as well as adjudicated youth and youth in residential care with social and psychiatric diagnoses. She has also worked as a high school guidance counselor and assistant track coach.


Ray Burke , Ph.D., a former employee of Boys Town, served in a variety of direct care, training, and administrative positions, including as assistant director of Education Services and national director of parent training programs and as Director of Program Evaluation for National Training . Burke has provided consultation to a variety of childcare and educational organizations, and has authored numerous professional and self-help books, manuals, videos; grant applications; and articles for professional publications. He also has taught a variety of university courses and seminars related to parenting and family development.
