Treasure Isla is a humorous Caribbean adventure set on Isla Mujeres, a tiny island off the eastern coast of Mexico.Two twenty-something women find themselves in possession of a seemingly authentic treasure map, which leads them on a chaotic search for buried treasure while navigating the dangers of too much tequila, disreputable men, and a killer. And there is a dog, a lovable rescue-mutt.From the author: My first novel, Treasure Isla, was hatched in a laughter-filled conversation with my husband, Lawrie. Waiting for the full moon to rise out of the Caribbean Sea, we were settled with a glass of wine on the upper deck of our home on Isla Mujeres.
"I going to write a mystery novel about Isla Mujeres and the pirates that visited here," I said.
"Great idea," he replied.
Then I noticed that our wine glasses were empty. "I'll be right back," I said, grabbing both glasses and heading downstairs to the kitchen.
Five minutes later I returned and handed the refilled glass to him.
"I've got an idea for the name of the first book and the plot," he said and proceeded to rattle off the storyline of a twenty-something Canadian woman and her Mexicana friend who lived, worked, and partied with the other young singles. In his storyline, the two women had heard rumors about Captain Fermin Mundaca's buried treasure and decided to search for it.
I burst into laughter. "I was only gone five minutes!"
He smiled and tapped his head with one finger. "You know me. Always cooking up ideas."
And Treasure Isla was born. The characters are a compilation of several of my island friends; Mexicans and foreigners. They are adventurous, carefree people who work hard, party hard, and live completely in the moment.
