The year is 1939 and Hitler invades Poland intent on its destruction, an epic worldwide conflict has begun. The Jewish Ostrowski family have lived in the capitol Warsaw for generations. As the bombs rain down on the city the patriarch Benjamin tells his son he must escape Poland with his two children before the Nazis seal off the country. Caleb agrees but is shocked beyond belief when told he must leave his young beautiful wife Dassah behind. Caleb flees Poland and begins a tortuous and epic journey through Romania, Bulgaria and Greece on the way to a proposed new life in England. About the Author

Chris Ward was born in West Bromwich in the black country which resulted in him following in his fathers footsteps and becoming a lifelong West Bromwich Albion supporter. He moved south from Wednesbury at an early age and lived his childhood in Purley Surrey and at Boarding School in Ashtead Surrey. He left school not knowing what he wanted to do and ended up at college for two years learning how to cook. He then worked at the BBC for 3 years cooking for the stars as well as on an Iranian missile base in the Persian gulf. He left catering after a few years and moved into Food sales. He then spent twenty odd years as a Commercial Director in sales and marketing before starting his own food marketing company. Chris still works as a marketing consultant which fits in well with his writing. Chris has published nine books the first being a memoir of his boarding school days. That was followed by four books in the Bermondsey crime thriller series, Bermondsey Trifle, Bermondsey Prosecco, Bermondsey The Final Act and Return to Bermondsey. Chris then did a three book crime thriller spin off with Serial Killer, Driven to Kill and Blue Cover Up. The last book was OMG Joe Warren a Sci-Fi Fantasy adventure! Chris has recently finished two further books which are in edit, the fifth and last in the Bermondsey series Bermondsey Pie & Mash and a powerful story of love and survival in Warsaw and England in 1939 during WW2 titled Caleb Dassah & Hannah. Interests include cooking, eating, wine, sport, reading and of course writing. Chris is married and lives in Epsom and has loads of kids !
