My killer is out there.

And my sister might be next.

Two months before I died, my best friend’s brother disappeared. I have no idea where Thayer went or why he left, but I know it’s my fault. I did a lot of horrible things while I was alive, things that made people hate me, maybe even enough to kill me.

Desperate to solve my murder, my long-lost twin, Emma, is pretending to be me and unraveling the many mysteries I left behind—my cryptic journal, my tangled love life, the dangerous Lying Game pranks I played. She’s uncovered my friends’ darkest secrets, but she’s never had the chance to dig into Thayer’s past—until now.

Thayer’s back and Emma has to move fast to figure out if he’s after revenge . . . or if he’s already gotten it.

From Sara Shepard, the #1 New York Times bestselling author of the Pretty Little Liars books, comes a riveting series about secrets, lies, and killer consequences.

About the Author

Sara Shepard's first story ever, which she both wrote and illustrated, was about friendly yellow creatures that lived in a backyard garden. It won second prize at the State College, Pennsylvania, library, and was bound and placed on the shelf. (The binding was yellow. The book was called Quizzles. Maybe it's still there!) Sara Shepard's second story was about a five-legged camel named Lloyd and his band of friends journeying through the human circulatory system.

When Shepard was young, the things she wanted to be when she grew up were a soap opera star, a designer for LEGO, a Claymation artist, a geneticist, a fashion magazine editor, and, most of all, a writer. She grew up in Pennyslvania, on Philadelphia's Main Line, and went to college at New York University in 1995, the height of the club kid era. While in college, she bought many pairs of purple vinyl pants, loud leather jackets, brightly colored club kid sneakers, and even a Day-Glo pacifier. After recovering from that unfortunate but short-lived phase, she had a series of jobs— interning at Elle magazine, filing important documents at J.P. Morgan, and writing and editing at Time Inc. At each of these jobs, she kept a separate folder on her computer of stories she wrote when she had free time. Eventually, she got an MFA at Brooklyn College, started receiving evil text messages from someone only known as A, nearly got run over by her best friend's SUV, and kept thinking she saw dead people everywhere.

Actually, that last part didn't happen. But Shepard did have all these ideas when preparing for her young adult series, Pretty Little Liars. It's now five books strong—the sixth in the series, Killer, is out in June 2009. She's also the author of an adult novel, The Visibles, which is out in May 2009, as well as the reluctant parent of three slobbery dogs. She and her sister, Alison, have also been creating many joint creative projects for years (Claymation movies, art installations, video game designs) based on a world they made up when they were 6 and 9 years old. They're pretty sure they're the only ones who find the world funny, though.

"PRETTY GIRLS DON'T PLAY BY THE RULES… THEY MAKE THEM." I can't stop a mystery... especially this one. Summary: Emma and Ethan are getting closer to finding out who killed Emma's twin sister, Sutton—a spunky dare-devilette who was involved in a friend group called the Lying Game. Emma finds herself toe-to-toe with Sutton's lover in love—Thayer Vega. He went missing a while back and turned up in Sutton's room nearly strangling Emma. When he is caught and put in jail, Emma realizes how badly she needs him for the answers she needs to find Sutton's killer... because he/she closer than she thinks. Join Emma as she uncovers the clues to Sutton's death... because Emma may be next. My Thoughts: This was just breath-taking—I reccomend this to any teenage boy or girl looking for one great mystery. Anyone who loves mysteries may easily fall in love with Sara Shepard's amazing series. I can't wait any longer for Hide and Seek, because it's the last in the series and I wanna know who killed Sutton! TheBombJD Find Me on Words With Friends

Sometimes, Shepard can get really annoying. The story can get too twisted, and you're just like "hurry up"! I also cant help but wonder if Shepard was ever stalked when she was younger. She always writes about being stalked. And there is too much kissing. Like teens are nasty or something. Shepard almost seems perverted... but other than those, the books are somewhat "good" . Definetly a cliff hanger. But huge dissapointing endings.-0-

I read the other 2 and they were good. I read about 100 pages of this one but it was so boring I stopped reading it. A few months later I thought I might have judged it too soon so I started it over. It was boring from beginning to end. I love the PLL series but I won't be buying the next one of these books. She drags it on and on and leaves you at a cliff-hanger so if you're a curious person, you have to buy the next book. This was my opinion on the book. Feel free to purchase it, but I wouldn't recommend it.

I think that Garret killed Sutton. He keeps popping in at the times when she thinks its someone else, and he hasn't been a suspect yet

read it cant wait for the next book to come out DO NOT READ THE REST OF THE COMMENT IF U HAAVENT FULLY READ THID BOOK!!! so i think that becky is still alive somewhere and might be mentiomed in the forth book. i also think laureal might have somthin to do with the murderof sutten but i dont think she was completly responsible. i think maybe becky could hav killed sutton because if uv read anything else by sara shepard ud no tht she throws in random details that are important to the story but no body realizes it yet.

First of all, I don't know if its just me but I could've SWORN this series was supposed to be a trilogy and now I'm learning there's going to be a fourth book coming out in June ?!?!?! I feel cheated like here I am thinking we're finally going to learn what really happened the night Sutton got killed but instead we're suckered into Emma playing Nancy Drew again and checks off another suspect off the list like really ?! It was disappointing but at the same time I still enjoyed the book with the little interesting things we've learned about Ethan having a Lying Game prank on him and how maybe Emma should not be soo quick to cross Laurel's name off the suspect list since she seemed to have developed a lot of anger towards her sister since Thayer's return and Emma learns she did leave Neesha's party to rescue Thayer soo that draws some questions .... Which of course leads to there now being a fourth book in the making !!! Please Sara Shepard have this mystery wrapped up in the next book thanks :-)
