About the Author

Dr. Moses was born, reared, and attended public schools in Washington, DC. Upon graduating from Paul L. Dunbar high school, he entered the United States Marine Corps, serving from 1983 to 1993. After his service to his country, he was honorably discharged from the United States Marine Corps and was hired by the Wilmington Police Department in June 1993. During the summer of 1996, then Master Police Officer (MPO) he testified before the Wilmington City Council on in-service promotion testing, that led the Council to unanimously approve his request that all in-service promotion testing be conducted by an outside agency. His advocacy has changed the command staff of the Wilmington Police Department to look like the community that it serves. In 2000, Dr. Moses resigned from the Wilmington Police Department and started a career in higher learning at Cape Fear Community College. After a short stay at Cape Fear Community College, he joined Voorhees College as a Coordinator of Sociology. Since that time, he has been promoted to Distinguished Professor of Sociology and has educated thousands of students and is currently serving as the Divisional Chairperson of Education, Humanities, and Social Sciences at Voorhees College.
