John McAdam was born in Glasgow, Scotland and has had an interesting life, living in five countries.
Sport has been a constant; played for the Scottish Under 18 National soccer team and had a brief period as a professional soccer player. With wife Marion, won the French National Mixed Doubles Badminton Championship. Had a low handicap in golf for several year and been a member of golf clubs in 4 countries and played in over 15 countries.
John graduated with BSc in Economics from London University and a Master of Science in Finance from Bentley College in Boston. The highlight of his career in finance was 10 years as the International CFO for a fast-growing US multinational in the water business, acquiring companies across the world. This allowed he and his wife to travel to the Far East, Australia, Russia, the Americas, Africa, and every country in Western Europe. He’s owned and managed a software company for the last few years, his mobile Security App winning awards for innovation in the UK.
But, despite his busy life, he’s always been writing. From children’s books and a Harry Potteresque book; a soon to be published book of their Small World travel experiences in which the six degrees of separation are reduced to one; and poems about the lives of friends and family members on their milestone birthdays.
During Covid and after, he turned to reading many ‘RomComs’ to escape from the awful events happening in the world. Deciding that he could use his background of business, travel, sport, and in-depth knowledge of several countries, he penned what has become the ‘Matala’ series; ‘Under the Matala Moon’ and ‘The Suns Shines on Matala’.
