Overview

Unexpectedly Mine by Stephanie Rowe

Praised as "contemporary romance at its best," New York Times bestselling author Stephanie Rowe launches a heartwarming contemporary romance series set in a charming Maine town, where two single parents are offered a second chance at love.

The moment his ex-wife walked out with his daughter, Griffin Friesé lost everything that mattered to him. After two years of agonizing failure to reconnect with his daughter, he's heading to Birch Crossing to find her. Unfortunately for Griffin, he arrives to find the town has rallied against him to protect their own from an outsider. His only ally is a single mom whose warmth and determination just might break through the protective walls around his heart.

Since the day she became an eighteen-year-old widow with an infant, Clare Griffin's only goal has been to provide for her daughter. She has worked so hard to be strong, and the last thing she can afford is to open her heart to a man who will soon be leaving town, no matter how much he awakens the long-extinguished light inside her. But when Griffin helps rescue her daughter in a fierce storm, an unbreakable connection is formed between Clare and the tormented business mogul, a bond that threatens the fragile foundations of their lives.

"A testament to Stephanie Rowe's skill and talent, one that deserves applause... phenomenal... There was not a moment that I wasn't completely engrossed in the novel, the story, the characters... The narrative and dialogue surrounding these 'tender' moments in particular were so beautifully crafted, poetic even... And of course on the flip side of the heart-wrenching events, was the amazing, witty humour...superbly developed." ~Bex 'N' Books

I loved the story and the characters, but I didn't think it really needed the love scenes or the "f" word. The sex and the curse words could just been alluded to, I just skipped over them and still enjoyed the story.

Her relapse to a needy woman seems so out of character and was a disappointment to this reader when she acted like a bumbling teenager. But all ends well after almost 300 pages.

This is not a cliffhanger! If I could have scored this story higher than a 5, I would have! This is a story of a town who epitomizes small town, USA. The empty loneliness of being a single parent. The harsh reality of the responsibilty of the security for your children. The loss of the ability to dream. The realization that living life or just surviving makes a difference in being happy or just smiling on the outside. I found myself immersed in their story of determining if opening up your heart to be hurt was worth the effort. As the raindrops made music on my patio roof, I cried and laughed. This story was mine. After my child's birth when nobody was a single parent, I remained celibate for 15 years. I found myself in love with a refound friend. When I decided to be a single parent, I promised my child that my child would be my top priority. When this new found love wanted to marry me he won me over because he argued that "Two can put your child through cllege easier than one..." ! How could I say "NO!"? We've been married 24 years!!! I recommend this story!

No Knight Needed By Stephanie Rowe What’s not to love about a good old fashion fairy tale? How about a wonderful, new contemporary fairy tale. That is what Ms. Stephanie Rowe delivers in No Knight Needed, book one of her newest series, Ever After. Our Knight in this story comes to us as Big City business mogul Griffin Friese and the damsel in distress is, Clare Gray, Small town lawyer and single mom. The story opens with Griffin rescuing Clair’s daughter from a mountain top, one stormy night. The tension starts from the moment Clair and Griffin lay eyes on each other. Griffen has come to the small town of Birch Wood in search of his estranged daughter, who he is hoping to win over and take back to Boston. Clare became a widow and mom when she was 18, always trying to tough and self-determining. Her only goal is to provide for her daughter. The characters were so real and believable. I was so drawn into this story, I felt like I was reading about old friends. This book was packed full of emotions, everything from Laughing, to crying your eyes out, because your heart is breaking for your friend, to shaking your head thinking WTH. There were even times I wanted to shout at Griffen and pop him up side his head. Or just reach into the page and give a huge hug, saying everything will be ok. All in All, this is an amazing story about two strong, independent people, making their own way through life. Can they overcome their past personal experiences, to learn to trust again, learn to love? If you enjoy a good old fashion love story, this book is for you.

Another amazing story by Stephanie Rowe!! No Knight Needed is a very touching heart felt story about two people who believe their lives are where they are suppose to be, that is, until they meet each other. There were many heart-wrenching moments that I literally wanted to reach in and give the character a hug and tell them it would be okay. Then there were just as many moments that had me smiling or laughing out loud. Simply put, Stephanie has done an amazing job with making this story so realistic that you feel you are witnessing every single one of the characters' moments in real life. An absolute must read!!!

Torn between a 3 or 4 but gave the story a 4 because I will buy at least two more to find out about Astrid and Emma. Could have had less of Eppie's doom and gloom.

This was a really sweet book! I really enjoyed it. Lots of character development and a few tears as the main characters struggled to find their hearts.

This was a very good story, mixing old fashion love stories with modern day realities, and compromise. I really would have liked a couple more chapters or a sequel.

I would have preferred to give it 3 1/2 stars, but it was better than 3, so I gave it four. It started out with a bang, but as many romance books these days go, it got hooked up in the business of each character finding reasons to talk themselves in and out of the relationship without bothering to be honest with each other. It was good enough I enjoyed the premise, the plot, the characters (especially the bratty teens), and the setting. Worth the read, just be prepared to be a little frustrated with the romance itself.
