Materialism is the idea that matter moved by mindless forces explains all of reality. This radically secular philosophy dominates the minds of Western cultural elites and is at the root of tribalism in our politics, lawlessness in our courts, chaos in our universities, and the crisis of meaning rampaging among young people. In his thirty-eight years of practicing law, Barry Arrington has seen the toxic impact of materialism firsthand. From representing victims of the Columbine school shooting to litigating challenges to unconstitutional laws before the US Supreme Court, he has seen how materialism destroys lives and hollows out once vibrant cultural institutions. In Unforgetting God, Arrington shines a light on the path out of the soul-numbing materialist wilderness we find ourselves in. He demonstrates that materialism is false, even absurd, and points the way to a loving God who has revealed himself in Jesus Christ, who is our best hope for personal salvation and cultural renewal.
Barry Arrington began his professional journey in 1984 with the public accounting firm Ernst & Whinney (now Ernst & Young). He later pursued law, graduating with honors from the University of Texas School of Law in 1986. Barry's practice has included civil litigation in the state and federal courts, nonprofit law, and constitutional law with a particular focus on First and Second Amendment freedoms. Barry served as a member of the Colorado House of Representatives from 1997 to 1998 and co-founded Jefferson Academy, a successful charter school in Colorado. Two of Barry's cases have reached the United States Supreme Court.
