About the Author

The Reverend Dr. Adolphus C. Lacey is the pastor of Bethany Baptist Church in Brooklyn, N.Y. A graduate of Northwestern University, Dr. Lacey holds a doctorate in the Sociology of Religion, where his scholarship explores the intersections of faith, social systems, and the lived experiences of marginalized communities. He also serves as an adjunct professor at the Interdenominational Theological Center and co-convener of “East Brooklyn Churches” as well as Project Reach: “Great Preacher Series” and was inducted into the Board of Preachers at Morehouse College. Through his ministry, teaching, and activism, Dr. Lacey challenges the church and the academy to envision a more just, inclusive, and hope-filled future.
