The Global Environment Facility (GEF) is providing $800,000 million for climate change mitigation activities within the $18.5 million project, Supporting Civil Society and Community Initiatives to Generate Global Environmental Benefits Using Grants and Micro Loans in the Mediterranean Ecoregion of Chile. The project, implemented by the United Nations Development Program, will demonstrate good forest management practices within the context of forest restoration and the enhancement of forest carbon stocks. Pilot or demonstration sites will be developed with activities targeted specifically for carbon benefits.
