About the Author

Dr. Raquel M. Ortiz is an educator and award-winning children's book author. Among her books are

Iris Morales is an activist, educator, attorney, author, and was a leading member of the Young
Lords Organization for five years. She has worked as a classroom teacher and created literacy and media
programs for children and youth. She writes about the Puerto Rican and Latinx Diasporas in the Americas
and produces related projects with artists and activists.
The artwork was produced by Somos Arte design studios led by Edgardo Miranda-Rodriguez,
award-winning graphic novelist and creator of La Borinqueña, the comic book superheroine who uses her
superpowers to save the environment. Sabrina Cintron is the illustrator.
