Overview

Experience the madness and corruption of war - and the emergence of hope - in Thomas William Montgomery's second book in the series, Viet Nam and Other Interruptions. Commentaries, short stories, poetry, and even a sci-fi piece blending in a twisting way to expose the effects of war upon the human psyche as trauma lays hold long after the battle is over. With a uniqueness, even a kind of rawness that is rarely seen in literature today, Montgomery wades through PTSD and depression, anger and destructive orientation, and some of the darker parts of the human mind. Book Two blends itself nicely into the matrix of the first book in the series, complimenting the harsh realities and highlighting the hope and victories found in the small lighted places among the horrors. It is a compilation that will stun the beginner and intrigue the experienced reader.

About the Author

Thomas William Montgomery, the author's nom de plume, was born soon after the end of the second World War into a life of poverty, alcoholism, abuse, and unsettlingly hardships. He was graced, however, with a protective mother for a few short years who endowed him with resiliency and a keen interest in discovery through the written word, as well as, a vibrant imagination. He is a survivor of not only a destructive past, but of marginal bouts with death in the theatre of war called Viet Nam. He has served his country as a combat paramedic, and had several extended careers as college professor in the behavioral sciences, worked with the full gamut of patients from toddlers to the elderly, started a crisis hotline, achieved Emeritus status as a minister, been a keynote speaker to conventions, invented a personality measurement device, and found himself needing to retire early due to the deleterious effects of Agent Orange. He is a Private Pilot, once enjoyed skydiving and competitive sail-boating, and officiating soccer. Now he writes, attends PTSD groups, works with other struggling soldiers, enjoys the interruptions of grandchildren, teaches a small class, and fends off failing health.
