Welcome to Anywhere

Welcome to Anywhere is a gripping tale set in a small Zimbabwean town, where Billy, an ordinary teenager, is caught in the chaos of a botched bank robbery and becomes possessed by the spirit of a war veteran. As Billy wrestles with inherited memories, guilt, and trauma, his sharp-tongued mother navigates her own struggles in a town brimming with secrets. Blending supernatural elements with dark humour, this novel explores themes of history, loss, and the search for redemption.

REVIEWS

"A brilliant, heart-stopping novel that charts the emotional effects of Zimbabwe's national journey through the relationship of a young boy and his mother."
- Giles Foden, The Last King of Scotland

"With a structure that spirals rather than marches, Welcome to Anywhere mimics the messiness of memory and the jagged rhythm of survival. It is immersive, generous and yet gently radical, a modern story told in a timeless way."
- Zabu Wamara, Night Dancer

"This is storytelling on an entirely different level. A dark, compelling and insightful take on all the ways that the past not only haunts, but also defines the present. The eternal question of what makes us who we are is explored in unexpected ways as we follow these characters through all their trials and tribulations."
- A'Eysha Kassiem, Suitcase of Memory
