About the Author

Nena Abdullah, a proud second-generation Muslim born in Atlanta, Georgia, was nurtured within the Atlanta Masjid Muslim community from pre-K through 12th grade—a community her parents helped establish alongside their peers. In this nurturing environment, she gained an understanding of Arabic, learned to pray, and embraced the rich traditions and practices of Islam.
Recognizing the critical importance of instilling a strong foundation in the Islamic faith for her children, Nena has embarked on an ambitious journey: a 10-book series titled *A Child’s Guide to the Fundamentals of Islam*. Through this series, she aims to share the teachings that profoundly shaped her own identity. “These concepts serve as my moral compass in everyday life,” she reflects.
Targeted at children aged 5 to 10, the series will explore the essential concepts, traditions, and Quranic teachings that are taught in Islam. Each book will delve into a specific theme, including an in-depth exploration of the Five Pillars of Islam—each pillar receiving its own dedicated volume—as well as a book on Arabic fundamentals, a study of the Prophets of Islam, and collections of short Quranic chapters alongside common prayers and phrases.
With the colorful and engaging illustrations of Mariam Poppins complementing her work, Nena aspires to create an invaluable educational resource for children and their families, celebrating the beauty and richness of Islam in an accessible manner.
