When the Clocks Stopped
1976. The wild and haunting Romney Marsh in the South of England. It's the beginning of a long hot summer when Hazel Dawkins, a feisty young lawyer, takes maternity leave anticipating a period of tranquility. Instead, the dreams begin. In them she encounters Annie, a passionate young woman whose romantic and tempestuous life was adventurously lived, more than two centuries previously, in the cottage that Hazel now occupies. As their destinies entwine, Hazel not only confronts a terrifying challenge which parallels history, she finds herself desperately fighting for survival in a cruel and unforgiving age. Even more disturbing is the realisation that her battle will affect the future for those in the past whose fate is, as yet, unwritten. Her only ally is Annie. Together they face events that echo through the centuries, events that are as violent and compelling as they are unexpected. And, as the past collides with the present, the time for the birth of Hazel's child draws ever nearer.

About the Author

Retired from legal practice, M L Eaton lives near the sea in the beautiful Sussex countryside with a long-suffering husband, a lazy Saluki and an urge to write into the small hours.
Marion started her legal career long ago - when there were very few women in the legal profession of England and Wales and the dice tended to be loaded them!
After a year working in a legal firm whose offices were close to Circular Quay in Sydney, Australia - and going to work by the idyllic means of crossing the harbour by ferry - she returned to England and a very different life. Encouraged by her husband and friends, she started her own business on Romney Marsh in 1976 when she was expecting her first child. That first tiny office eventually extended until, after a number of changes, retrenchment and growth it now forms part of one of the top 100 legal firms in England and Wales.
Marion semi-retired from the practice in the early 1990s and became a complementary health practitioner specialising in aromatherapy, massage and reiki, which she also teaches. For several years she ran a complementary health clinic in the Old Town of Hastings as well as practising part time as a solicitor in her old firm. She became a dab hand at healing her staff's headaches, bad backs and digestive problems - as well as the occasional heartache! - and still misses the wonderful people she worked with.
Now fully retired from legal practice and nearly-retired from holistic health practice, Marion is thoroughly enjoying her life: writing, gardening, walking, reading, cooking and developing new and exciting aromatherapy scents for the home.

'When the Clocks Stopped' is her first novel. Although the novel is complete fiction many of the anecdotes, both legal and supernatural have their roots in the truth.

The second novel in the 'Mysterious Marsh' series is in the pipeline. Watch this space!

'When the Clocks Stopped' is her debut novel and the first in the Mysterious Marsh series.

The next book in the series is entitled 'When the Tide Turned' and is poised for release in April 2014.
