About the Author

Susanna Leonard Hill is the award-winning author of nearly a dozen books for children, including Punxsutawney Phyllis (A Booklist Children’s Pick and Amelia Bloomer Project choice); No Sword Fighting in the House (a Junior Library Guild selection); Can’t Sleep Without Sheep (a Children’s Book of the Month); and Not Yet, Rose (a Gold Mom’s Choice Award winner). She lives in New York’s Mid-Hudson Valley with her husband, children, and two rescue dogs. She loves chocolate, animals, and being outdoors.

Daniel Wiseman likes to draw. A lot. He likes it so much, he’s made a career out of it. Usually he draws animals wearing clothes, or kids enjoying a good dance party. However, when prodded, he’s been known to draw pretty much anything else. Daniel currently lives in St. Louis, Missouri, with his beautiful wife and his equally beautiful son. When he isn’t drawing, he can usually be found doing one of these great things: perfecting his biscuit recipe, hiking up a mountain in some faraway location, singing loudly in his car, riding his bike on the mean streets of STL, or napping.

Susanna Leonard Hill has done it again in her hilarious new board book WHEN YOUR MONKEYS WON’T GO TO BED! Witty text, and clever ways to outsmart your little monkeys and tucker them out before bedtime, will have you laughing out loud! From a race to the bathtub without touching the floor, to picking out PJ’s and brushing their monkey teeth, to a pillow-pile-on-the-floor storytime which ultimately prompts a playful pillow fight, finally followed by contagious YAWNING and pitching a tent, you’re sure to have your monkeys to bed in no time! But be careful when snuggling them in, you might just end up asleep too! Fun and amusing illustrations by, Daniel Wiseman, will keep the attention of little ‘monkeys’ everywhere. I’m sure ALL parents will relate to this super cute, bring on the giggles, bedtime romp!

Such a cute story and perfect illustrations to go with it. If your little one has trouble going to sleep, this book should help. It worked well for my son.

It is time for two lively monkeys to go to bed. How can you persuade them to settle down? You have to be clever to convince those monkeys to close their eyes and welcome sleep. And the main character in Susanna Leonard Hill’s newest book has lots of innovative ways to get her monkeys dreaming. In this tale, Hill marries humor with the steps of a calming bedtime routine. So pile your comfy pillows on the floor and add When Your Monkeys Won’t Go To Bed (and Hill’s other When Your books) to your stack of read-aloud choices. This story is sure to ease reluctant sleepers toward a peaceful night—and their parents, too.

Right from the get-go I knew this was going to be a fun romp about getting your kids to go to bed, but the clever symbolism is what delighted me most. Ms. Hill has her main character ( a little girl) be the one in charge of quieting down her monkeys - representative of her monkey mind (restless and uncontrollable). This subtle psychological sublimation is something every parent will appreciate and every child will consciously and sub-consciously delight in. Alas, the story ends with a peaceful and snuggly sleep, making it the perfect bedtime book!
