It's the psychedelic summer of 1966 in Philadelphia. Having left behind her conservative, traditional upbringing down south to pursue a nursing career, 21-year-old Emmy Williams is new to the city and all it encompasses, determined to become a liberated, new woman. On her first night in the city, along with her three new roommates, the girls go out to see a local aspiring progressive rock band play a show. When Emmy unintentionally falls for the charmingly handsome lead guitarist Roger Burton, they begin a romance unlike any other...until Roger cracks under the pressures of the band's newfound record deal and becomes addicted to drugs, testing not only their relationship and love, but Emmy's strength and perseverance.
