Yes, cats will actually paint, apparently, and some of the cat artists described in this book are amusing. I'm so going to give my cats paints when I can figure out what they should be using and let them try it out.

The fact that some cats are able to make marks with paint has been explained by the experts as an instinctive form of territorial marking behavior. But is it only that, or are some cats genuinely artistically motivated? This book is a photographic record of the artistic cat at work. It also explains many aspects of ordinary everyday cat behavior in a new way. Anyone who loves cats and is interested in psychology or art will be fascinated with this book. I loved the humor of it!

Beautiful photographs of cats, who, seemingly, paint.

a really entertaining and intelligent parody. the photographs are exceptional, the paintings quite appealing and the artists very charming

While I'm still bewildered about whether this is or is not a parody, I love the detail behind the studies of each cat's art. The cats are whimsical and endearing, and their art is quite amazing. I am absolutely entranced by this book!

I've done much research on this book and i can asure you from what i've found, this book is NOT a 'parody'. if you actually READ the book you will realize that although amusing and interesting, it is quite real and serious.

I was just reading the reviews on the BN.com page from Newsweek & some magazine. It says that this book IS a parody. While my boyfriend & I were looking through it we were both stunned that someone would take cat art so seriously. It is somewhat relieving that it is a joke. Still, it is a great book and it makes you laught. It's a great book.....

I just read the previous reviewer's comments about this book--I totally agree, it is a wonderful book. If you are into art and love cats, you can't miss with this book. The only thing is that I am not so sure that it is fake. I didn't get the impression that it was a joke. Of course I was laughing, but I didn't get the feeling that the author was kidding. But maybe I am just blind! Regardless, it's a great great book & I highly recommend it. Even if you don't buy it, go to your local store & look through it. Great cat book!

This is possibly the funniest book I have EVER read. If you love cats, or if you just have a sense of humor, and you appreciate art, you will die laughing over this book. I screamed aloud with laughter. The book pretends to be serious, talking about the cat's different paintings and other projects. Everytime I need to smile, or appreciate my cats, I read this book. I have given it as a gift many, many times. Enjoy!!
