Tyrannosaurus Dyslexia Book Gets Five Stars. Why 'Tyrannosaurus' But Not 'If'? is a dyslexia book well worth buying and reading by any teacher or parent of a dyslexic student. Whitehead does an outstanding job of explaining the phenomenon for which the book is named. Anyone who works with dyslexic learners meets this conundrum. Most reading programs do not address this important piece of the dyslexic puzzle.

What I love about this book is that it explodes the myths that dyslexics are underachievers. Its straightforward and well written text provides teachers, parents, and the rest of us who struggle to support dyslexic youngsters with insight and solutions for helping them to achieve their potential. It helps those of us who are not dyslexic thinkers to gain some insight and understanding into the way the dyslexic thinks and processes information. I found it insipring.

Although the author draws on his own experience in sharing anecdotes throughout the book, he also cites to and summarizes independent research about the way dyslexics think and learn. But this book does more than present theory or argument - it also includes practical strategies and suggestions that teachers can implement with students at all levels.

Richard is a highly experienced Davis Workshop Presenter and Specialist. He is also a teacher with impressive educational credentials. Moreover, he holds an SpLD certificate, and a position as the Special Education Needs Coordinator for an independent secondary school in the UK. This means that in addition to his expertise in Davis, he is also has an in-depth understanding of traditional views and approaches to dyslexia. As a result, he is able to explain concepts in language that teachers will understand and relate to.
