Simon Tregarth, who has troubles in this world, jumps through a portal into a parallel universe known as the Witch World. In this society, with its complex relationships and disputes, he seems to find his true home. In the Witch World he’s an anomaly—a male who has magical abilities. Nick Podehl's narration is smooth and well paced, and he maintains interest in long explicatory passages. His intensity ebbs and flows with the plot, rising appropriately when the battles ensue.
