Working Stiff (Runaway Billionaires #1: Casimir) by Blair Babylon

Here's the problem: when Rox was hired, she told her smoking-hot boss Cash that she was married, but she's not. Now, three years later, she's kind of accidentally living with him, and he's being a perfect gentleman, dang it.

Everybody in the office said that Cash was a heartbreaker, that he'd bump her and dump her, so Rox decided not to become a statistic. She went out and bought herself some rings of the finest cubic zirconia so that she could work with Cash, who was several inches over six feet tall, emerald-eyed, ripped, gorgeous, his tailored suit clinging to his athletic body, sporting a British accent, and loaded.

It had seemed like such a good idea at the time.

But now, three years later, she and Cash have become friends. They travel together for work often, and they're the best of buddies.

When Rox gets thrown out of her apartment, Cash insists that she come live with him until they can find her a place because that's what friends do.

Now, even though everyone insists that Cash never goes after married women, something about him has changed. There are little touches, little slips, and Rox is more and more tempted to tell hunky, gorgeous Cash that she never was married.

And then he'll take her and break her, and then he'll walk away, and then she'll lose her job, and she still hasn't found a place to live.

And yet, every time he looks at her with mischief in his dark green eyes, every time they're teasing and it somehow turns into tickling, every time she swats at him and somehow ends up in his arms, she wants so much to risk everything.

What's a working stiff to do when she falls in love with her friend, the boss?

Includes a sneak peek at Stiff Drink (Runaway Billionaires #2: Arthur)!

About the Author

Blair Babylon is the nom de plume of an award-winning author who regularly publishes literary and suspense fiction. Because professional reviews of her other fiction usually included the caveat that there was too much deviant sex, she decided to abandon all literary pretensions, let her freak flag fly, and write hot, sexy, erotic romance.

Casimir ( aka Cash) is a mystery for Rox. When she was initially hired she had noticed this demigod of men. Rox noted that he attracted all women but after their affair he was in pursuit of the next one. She bought a cheap wedding set with a cubic zirconia stone as insurance that if her well-rounded figure wasn't enough insurance to save her from ending up just like all the women in the office, perhaps her "married" status would be protection. It did!!! Rox witnessed a horrific accident while she was driving home during LA rush hour. She watched as Casimir was hit by a truck and his car rolled and rolled. She abandoned her new car and ran to him, but it took the firefighters' Jaws of Life to open up the crumpled metal and extract him. Their story of friendship, romance, and mystery took 371 pages to resolve. I enjoyed meeting Rox and Casimir. The author spent time to create characters you cared about. Sshe spun a tale around a possible world where ethics are important and a handsome Adonis has a relationship with an intelligent chubby woman based on respect. This is not a cliffhanger but the start of a series of romance with a blueblood! ..

Oh my Lanta!! The ways that Blair Babylon can make you laugh so hard you have to squeeze your legs together, because you just can't stop and run to the loo!! Casimir', with his intense emerald eyes, is so hot, he made my panties melt and I'm not in my early 20's anymore. And Rox, well she's so acerbic, has a slightly twisted sense of the universe and a slavish devotion to her tribe. And therein evidences a fair portion of the humor, love/comfort, near pathos and really the true evidence of her very warm, Southern heart. Her tribe are, for me, the start of Cash really connecting with Rox and truly being able to see the depth of her soul. I have read this book at least 4 times now and will probably re-read again before the summer is over. There's always the chuckles and the tears that still catch me. I've read and re-read all of Blair Babylon's books so far. She just does that to you. You read one and want to know where the other characters(main supporting cast) have gone. And she always fulfills! Luv, love, love Casimir and Rox! Then Arthur's books(Stiff Drink & Hard Liquor) Playonwords!!

I loved this book; the story is funny, charming and (ahem) sexy. Rox is a riot, and you will find yourself laughing and blushing at the same time.

Totally loved this book! It took twists and turns at every corner. A little predictable, but thoroughly enjoyable. I agree with the other reviews - it was hard to put down. Can't wait to read Arthur's story now.

*** Gifted in exchange for my honest review*** I read this book in one sitting today. Lifes crap at the minute but Blair Babylon sure took me away for the day... so big thank's to the author for letting me escape from my woes and I didn't feel so alone lost in the excitement of the book. Blair has a gift for writing books where you are not only reading about characters that are interesting, but they are based in a world that is far from the mundane world that the majority of us live in.. Rockstars, Billionaires or Royalty... THIS IS FICTION FOLKS! Pure Escapable fiction to get lost in and leave the mundane real life that drags us down for a few hours. I read to escape reality, that's why I read Paranormal, but out of the few authors of Contemporary Romance that I read, I love Blair's books... they are not the every day, no they are pure escapism. So if you want a book on reality - go read non fiction, (honestly giving a book 1 star for basing it on a world that exists is silly) if you want to read a book which will have you rooting for the characters to take a chance on their relationship, where Rescue Cats are saved, where there is humour, intrigue and suspense. Then grab a copy and enjoy the escape like I did.

I loved this book so much I could not put it down. Read far, far into the early morning hours to finish it. Cash turns out to be a pretty cool guy, even though he is a lawyer, and a player, and a prince. Rox has fallen for him hard over the three years they have worked together. And then they are running for their lives. Not the typical billionaire prince romance, this book has mystery, intrigue, suspense, romance, heat, heat, heat. Definitely 5 stars and definitely worth purchasing and definitely worth reading. Another great addition to Blair Babylon's catalog. I received an advanced copy for an honest review.

Rox is a paralegal who is smart and sassy and the only woman left in the office who can work with the lawfirms only male partner. Cash. He has seduced his way through the office staff and client list but he draws the line at Rox's wedding rings. Irregularities in contracts put forth by a senior partner start the couple on a path to danger and intrigue with a dash of love.  Car crashes, snipers, and firebombings are not enough to seperate this duo or stop them from seeking justice for their clients. Will the revelation of his dynastic issues keep a strong, sweet, loyal southern woman like Rox from a life with Prince Casimir van Amsberg? And what about those wedding rings? Rox may be the strongest woman in a series of strong woman put forth by Blair Babylon, i promise you'll love her powerful personality and southern sass as much as you will love the wounded boy inside the man that is Casimir. Read and fall in love with these two

Another great read written by Blair! I received a free ecopy for an honest review. Cash is a very rich man that has no problem being a playboy. Once he is through with a woman he seems to dump them like yesterday's trash. When he hires Rox she hears from the other women working for him that he will only use her and toss her aside like his has done to others in the past. Rox certainly doesn't want her heart hurt because of getting to know Cash and then being pushed away like all his other relationships. So Rox decides to buy a fake diamond ring to wear, knowing that Cash does not date married women. But after working for her boss for 3 years the two of them have become close and its apparent that there are some sparks between them that they both pretend doesn't exist. When Rox is tossed out of her apartment and has to explain her situation to Cash he demands that she come live with him until she can find a new place. Living together in close quarters becomes hard for the both of them causing more of an attraction then either of them were ready for. You have to read to find out what happens to Cash and Rox. Guaranteed you wont be disappointed.

TALL, sexy, wealthy, predator of women with a sexy English accent. These are some of the things that Rox knew and things she has been told by the other women. She did what she had to do to protect herself and her job. Now that she has gotten in and on her feet she has found herself in need of her best friend. With open arms he invite her in to his lair. She begins to wonder if her lie has caught up with her or if she is imagining things. She will cross that line when she gets her footing back. Right now the goal is to stay afloat. Cash knows there is something up. There is something not quite right with his new roommate. Cash has kept their relationship on pure business legs because of the ring on her finger. But what if? Cash begins to think. Things begin to happen. Life continue on. This leads to that and they end up getting to know each other outside of work. I found a book that can keep up with life while giving a bit of the fantasy at the same time. This was my first read from Blair Babylon. I will most certainly say it is not the last. I seriously loved every turn of the page and was looking for more. I hear there are more to choose from and plan to make that purchase very soon. **This ARC was provided via Xpresso Book Tours in exchange for an honest review.**

Take one workaholic lawyer who has an upper crust English accent (but is he English?), and who is the office serial dater, his workaholic Southern belle paralegal (is she married or isn’t she?), and you get one sweet book that you won’t want to put down. This is one laugh-out-loud funny book as you'll find out because as you read Casimir's (Cash) and Roxanne's (Rox) story, you are constantly wondering, “Will they or won’t they?"; is Rox married?"; and "What's up with Cash and ghosting?” You know when they finally do get together it will be explosive. Rox has worked for Cash for 3 years and she’s the only paralegal that he can work with and that he wants to work with, in more ways than just work. They travel the world for their jobs and he needs her 24/7. Besides the comradery and “slight” sexual tension between Cash and Rox (hey, he’s her Work Husband and she’s his Work Wife), there is a large whodunit-type storyline that is very well written. As the story moves along, you don’t really know who is behind the nefarious incidents that befall Cash and Rox. I loved reading their story and it went quite quickly, so fast that I couldn't put it down. Blair Babylon is a wonderful writer and I've been enjoying reading her books just to see what happens next.

Casimir and Roxanne are trying to live a lie. Cash is the office heartbreaker. Rox is determined not to join the throng of hearts that he has broken, so she pretends to be married. She is determined to keep their relationship professional, and he never chases a married woman, so it should be pretty simple, right? It’s not. They have been working with each other for over three years, spending long hours going over files, meeting with clients and other attorneys. They even travel together on a regular basis, without getting involved. They are both trying to keep the “friends” boundary so that they can continue to work together, but it’s getting harder and harder to ignore their feelings. Circumstances change, and they end up living together. Rox loses her apartment because she has been keeping three homely cats. Cash takes all of them in, with the intention of them only being there for a couple of days, but then Cash is involved in a car accident, and Rox and the “Motley Crew” agree to stay and nurse him back to health. Strange things start to happen, and they get sucked into something bigger than either of them had ever imagined. Things aren’t what they seem. Just when you think you have it figured out, there is a new twist, throwing a different light on the story, in true Blair style. This is a fun read for adventure seekers! I received a copy of this story in exchange for an honest review.

Another fabulous read by author Blair Babylon!! In contrast to her previous works, the plot of “Working Stiff” is a slightly more “sweet” read in comparison to the author’s previously released “slightly more dark and twisty” novels. In saying this though, I am not implying in the least that this book is lacking in any way. It’s not! All of her characters come to life through vivid expression of their hopes and fears. The sex scenes are raw and edgy, dripping with angst for what both Casimir (Cash) and Rox hope will one day exist between them, but at the time currently remains unsaid. From the moment I started to read this book, I simply could not put it down! The plot of this book progresses a lot like the “edging” that Cash and Rox engaged in while visiting the Devilhouse. A slow, halting telling.. twisting in direction just at the moment the reader starts to feel release that they know exactly where the storyline is headed. The author is brilliant at changing up the plot so that as a reader, you are left wondering where exactly the story is heading. There is never anything predictable about Blair Babylon’s novels and this book lives up to this expectation! The author created not only the main characters Cash and Rox, but also the supporting characters (namely Maxence and Authur) so that they contain many fascinating and diverse layers. Just a hint of backstory was provided to leave the reader primed and eager to read future installments in the “Billionaires in Disguise”/”Runaway Billionaires” series telling Authur and Maxence’s stories. I looking forward to seeing how their stories unfold… This book is a standalone novel which does not contain a cliffhanger. ** I received an advance copy of this book in exchange for a fair and honest review. --- LOVED IT!!!!

Another fabulous book by Blair Babylon! Cash and Roz have worked together for three years, keeping it strictly in the friend zone, despite each holding as secret attraction to the other. Then after an eviction---things change. A great, emotional story, sexy, funny and lots of action. It was fun checking in with characters, like the Dom, from her other books. Can't wait for the next book! ARC provided for an honest review.

First off, I received an ARC for my honest review of Working Stiff. That said, I would’ve definitely, purchased this one – it’s THAT good. I discovered Blair Bablyon’s books based on a free one, Every Breath You Take, when I was out of things to read. Being a voracious reader, I tend to read faster than my favorite authors write. It’s totally worth the wait, but still leaves me a few bored moments. I love all of Ms. Babylon’s books now. Most importantly, my review: Having read stories about other characters mentioned in this book, Working Stiff ties in perfectly and gives you more than you bargain for. But, it IS a stand-alone in that it’s a complete story. I just have to know all the side stories so I’ve eagerly devoured them all. However, I have never read a book that had me trying to figure out the mystery while enjoying the steaminess at the same time, all while giggling at the characters’ antics! As usual, Blair Babylon builds a story that sucks you in right from the beginning and keeps you enthralled through to the end. Casimir is captivating with his secret identity and his way with people. I could totally identify with Rox in trusting animals more than people and in the lengths she goes to in trying to protect her heart. This story will grab you by every emotional string you have, including your funny bone. Can’t wait for the next story!

I really enjoyed this book and the characters. Cash and Rox were a great match; I particularly liked the humor they shared. I also enjoyed the instances of Blair's interjection of her own dry wit into the story-telling. For example: Yep, Cash was several inches over six feet tall, emerald-eyed, ripped, gorgeous, his tailored suit clinging to his athletic body, sporting a British accent, and loaded. Shockingly, women swooned over him. Having read the other stories in this series, and having the benefit of getting inside the heads of both main characters, this wasn't particularly suspense-filled, but there were some surprises. In fact, I found myself in the difficult position of wanting to read through this book as quickly as possible while also wanting to prolong my read because I was enjoying it so much. Often I found myself thinking about what might happen next for Cash and Rox as I drifted off to sleep at night, unable to keep my eyes open for even another sentence. For me, this book is just the right length. By the end, I felt like I had followed Cash and Rox to the end of their story and I didn't feel it had been rushed or that anything important had been skipped. Of course, I'll love to see more of them on future stories, but I know they got their HEA. I received an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest opinion.

Awesome! I love Casimir, Andrew & Maxence. Fabulous names for magnificent men! and Rox! She is a spitfire who won't up up with any crap from anyone. It is amazing the lengths people will go to protect themselves, especially if they've been hurt by someone before. This story pretty much has it all....mystery, hunks and amazing women. Blair has created a great bunch of characters and I enjoyed reading Working Stiff immensely. The door is wide open for the rest of the series - I am so looking forward to it.
