Out of all the Blacktop Cowboy Series and all of the other series she has written I like this one the best. It takes people from outside of the cowboy life and brings them into it. It d covered real world issues and problem solving beyond cowboy stuff. It offer different cowboy experiences as well. I know her sister came from the same place as Harlow, but she has not had the real world experiences Harlow has. I love how she process her personality so it defined who she was as a person. And did what was best for her. So many people in life live for others. I really liked where this story went. Thanks Lorelei.

I love the character of Hugh, but Harlow seems difficult to relate to and uninteresting. Her appeal comes only through the various tragedies of her life, but that dosnt do it for me. Plus the dialog from her isn't real. She sounds just like all the locals...but she's supposed to be exotic and different. End result, the book doesn't ring true. The plot meanders and wallows. Normally the ride is so fun with Ms James, that you are glad for the slow ride. The mud lillies are cliched stereotypes as always. I find them crass and unasppealing, but this time I did get a laugh out if 'lilies before willies!' Still worth buying, but if you are interested in this series One Night Rodeo is way better.

3.75 stars---WRAPPED AND STRAPPED is the seventh full-length installment in Lorelei James’s contemporary, adult BLACK TOP COWBOY romance series. This is ranch foreman Hugh Pritchett, and Harlow Pratt’s second chance storyline. WRAPPED AND STRAPPED can be read as a stand alone-any important information from previous storylines is imparted where necessary. Told from dual third person perspectives (Hugh and Harlow) using both flashbacks, memories and present day WRAPPED AND STRAPPED is a second chance storyline that focuses on the rekindling relationship between Hugh and Harlow. Three years earlier, following a summer romance and a night of passion, Hugh walked away from Harlow without a word. Hurt, heartbroken and embarrassed Harlow set off on a humanitarian mission around the world that left our heroine physically and emotionally destroyed. Fast forward to present day where Hugh wants a second chance with Harlow but Harlow’s presence in Muddy Gap, Wyoming has nothing to do with Hugh and everything to do with her family. The relationship between Hugh and Harlow is acrimonious at best. Harlow still harbors heartbreak from Hugh’s rejection three years earlier and with it comes anger and hatred for a man she still wants. The chemistry and sexual energy is palpable but Hugh has a definite uphill climb to make up for the past. What ensues is Hugh’s pursuit of Harlow both in and out of the bedroom. The $ex scenes are erotic and intense. The world building focuses on the Split Rock Ranch and Resort, the rodeo circuit and the Pratt family dynamics that are stretched to the limits when a health scare finds the family patriarch back in Muddy Gap in need of continuous care. WRAPPED AND STRAPPED has a large ensemble cast of secondary and supporting characters including Harlow’s sister Tierney, her husband Renner and their growing family; Ike and Rissa who have promised to bury the hatchet-perhaps in one another’s head or in the proverbial ground; and Tobin whose own life is fraught with loneliness and longing. WRAPPED AND STRAPPED is an entertaining but slow building storyline. The premise is uplifting and inspiring; the characters are colorful and animated; the romance is hopeful and impassioned.

3.5 Stars Reviewed by Francesca and posted at Under The Covers Book Blog I love being back in Wyoming and with my favorite western romance author! This is the story of Tierney’s sister, Harlow, and her second chance at love with the grumpy cowboy Hugh. Their romance is hot and explosive, almost from the get go since these two have history together. We get some flashbacks that tell the story of what happened to them three years prior, and we slowly find out what’s happened to them since they’ve been apart. This is very much an opposites attract kind of story for me. There is something to be said about a hard working cowboy who is a bit rough around the edges, and may not always say the right thing. I really liked that about Hugh. Harlow, on the other hand, is a bit of a free spirit. She has a wandering soul and her life’s passion is to humanitarian work. No roots or settling down for her. I liked that she wasn’t an extremist in her beliefs or her independence as it’s often the case with this type of heroine in romance stories. She was very down to earth. Flawed and hurt but still willing to open herself up to love. Hugh and Harlow have great chemistry, in and out of the bedroom. They are both willing to compromise for the other and that was key being as they are so different and have such different passions to follow. I feel like their years apart were key in having their relationship work without childish behavior getting in the way of their happiness. And in the bedroom? These two are pretty hot! Although, I do think the heat level in this one is not as high as with previous books in the series. Another thing I enjoyed about this story was the “after” side of marriage and kids we get of Renner and Tierney. They just had baby #2, Renner is dealing with some changes for his work career. They are dealing with managing two kids and their oldest being jealous of baby Rhett. Longtime fans of the series will be happy for the insight into their lives. I am hoping the next book will be about Ike and Riss, whom we get to meet in this book and there’s some major sparks flying there. And I’m also left wondering if we will see Tobin get an HEA. I always get extremely excited when I get a Lorelei James book. Her stories are always filled with a lot of heart, with complex characters and storylines that draw you in from the start. Characters that I usually come to care for quickly. WRAPPED AND STRAPPED was an enjoyable addition to the Blacktop Cowboys series but I didn’t get the same level of connection to the characters as with previous books in the series. I enjoyed the story, but didn’t care enough about the outcome. I can’t quite put my finger on what was missing for me.
