About the Author

Daniel S. Pasternack, MBA is a lifelong baseball obsessive. From the time he could read, baseball was his favorite topic and he quickly became known for his encyclopedic knowledge of the stats and history of the sport. As he began to study about the Negro Leagues, his focus began to shift from current players to reading about the greats who were excluded from Major League Baseball. Players like Cool Papa Bell, Oscar Charleston, Satchel Paige, Josh Gibson and Pop Lloyd became his favorites and he even wrote his junior year US History thesis paper on the integration of Major League Baseball.

Pasternack played for many years and has coached for over two decades at the Little League, high school and college levels. He also ran the San Diego RBI (Reviving Baseball in Inner Cities) program for several years through his nonprofit organization Athletic Initiative. Additionally, Pasternack was a co-founder of Old Town Academy in San Diego and kick started the athletic programs there and started the baseball program at Democracy Prep at the Agassi Campus and the sports program at Explore Academy in Las Vegas.
