What People are Saying About This

Mary Lowe

Judi is the only teacher who made me feel like a successful art quilter. She guided us, questioned us and allowed us to develop our own interpretation.

Carol Gilham

Judi's process, solidly grounded in classic design principles yet fluidly accommodating of different aesthetics, fosters extraordinary creativity. She teaches you how to design a quilt by combining elements and images from your own photographs. Thus, the quilt you make is a purely individual expression of your own composition as well as of your fabric and finishing choices.

Fay Martin

Most recent books on art quiltmaking concentrate on surface design and embellishment techniques. By contrast, collage+cloth=quilt gets back to the basics in art quiltmaking, guiding the student to focus on those aspects of a piece that make it artful—composition, line, value, color. By manipulating my own images into a pleasing and meaningful collage composition, using fabric in all its richness as the interpretive medium, and with Judi's guidance as a master art teacher, both conceptually and technically, I was able to produce a piece that went beyond my expectations. Having experienced the workshop and Judi's masterful teaching I feel more confident in my ability to actually produce an artful quilt. Judi's workshop taught me a new way of seeing and thinking about the art of quiltmaking and my abilities to successfully engage in it.
