Nora Roberts originally wrote her In Death series under the pseudonym J. D. Robb in order to try her hand at a new genre. Initially intended to be a trilogy, the futuristic suspense novels starring Eve Dallas, a tough cop with a dark past, proved so popular that the series continued, and it now counts more than forty books. The In Death books regularly appear on bestseller lists and are published twice a year.
