About the Author

Thania Orellana Bonilla was born in Choloma, Cortés, Honduras, Central America, has a degree in secondary education, and was a dedicated teacher in bilingual programs in Honduras. In 2019 she immigrated to North Carolina in the United States, and during a break from teaching in 2020, she worked with the Gibsonville Public Library making connections with the local Hispanic community. Currently, she teaches High School World Languages at Walter Hines Page High School in Greensboro, North Carolina, and continues to paint and write children's stories based on her homeland and childhood. The Scarlet Red Macaw is her second children's story.
