Luisa Pérez-Sotelo was born in Lima, Perú. She obtained her bachelor's degree as a high-school teacher in Lima and perfected her English in Barat College, Illinois. She pursued her graduate studies at the University of Kansas in Lawrence, Kansas and obtained her Ph.D. in Foreign Language Teaching in 1994. She was Academic Coordinator of the Elementary Spanish Program at the University of Kentucky. Then, she coordinated Spanish courses at the University of Kansas. She is currently Assistant Professor of Spanish at Emporia State University and she also helps at the Teacher's College with teachers' supervision in public schools. Eileen L. Hogan received her Ph.D. from the University of Missouri, Columbia, in child development in December 1989. Her research dealt with the interactions between caregivers and parents and the subsequent effect that relationship might have on the care received by the child. She is the director of the early childhood master's program at Emporia State University.
