In humanity's distant future, no living civilization knows how the ancient war ended, why all life on dozens of planets ceased. Now, researchers Nevan and and his wife, Sylan, follow an enigmatic message to the forgotten planet Perdita, which may hold the secret of the War's End. But when their spaceship crash lands on the planet, the couple walks into a war zone. Nevan and their daughter are captured by the pro-technology leadership, Sylan and their son by an anti-tech rebels.
