About the Author

Prof. Kerryn Phelps AM is a doctor, author, public health and human rights advocate, Past President Australian Medical Association, past President Australasian Integrative Medicine Association, Conjoint Professor at NICM Health Research Institute, Western Sydney University, former Member of Federal Parliament and mother of three. In 2003 she was awarded the Centenary Medal for services to Health and Medicine and in 2011 she was made a Member of the Order of Australia for service to medicine, particularly through leadership roles with the Australian Medical Association, education and community health, and as a general practitioner. She lives in Sydney with her wife Jackie.

Prof. Kerryn Phelps AM has been a doctor for 40 years, and is a pioneer in the fields of health communication and integrative medicine in Australia.
Prof. Phelps is a Conjoint Professor at NICM Health Research Institute at the University of Western Sydney.
Prof. Phelps is Past President of the Australian Medical Association, and Past President of the Australasian Integrative Medicine Association.
In 2003 she was awarded the Centenary of Federation Medal for services to Medicine and Australian society and in 2011 received an Order of Australia. In 2014 she was awarded an Honorary Doctorate of Letters by the University of Western Sydney.
She is a former Deputy Lord Mayor of Sydney.
Prof. Phelps won the 2018 Wentworth by-election, occasioned by the resignation from Parliament of Malcolm Turnbull following his removal as prime minister. She won the previously safe Liberal seat in a 19-point swing and was the first independent candidate to win the Federal seat of Wentworth.
She is married to Jackie and has three children.


Jaime Rose Chambers is an accredited practising dietitian and nutritionist. She has a Bachelor of Nutrition&Dietetics from the University of Newcastle and a Graduate Diploma in Clinical Science (Complementary Therapies). She sees patients with a wide range of health conditions, including diabetes, obesity, food allergies and intolerances, polycystic ovarian syndrome and cancer. She is the author of 16:8 Intermittent Fasting and co-author of The Mystery Gut.

Jaime is a well-respected voice in diet and nutrition, and has made appearances on Today Tonight and A Current Affair, as well as being a frequent contributor to publications such as the Australian Women's Weekly. She also speaks regularly on the importance of nutrition at corporate seminars and cancer support groups.
