About the Author

I've been trained in a life-span developmental approach and understand how our past cognitive, emotional and behavioral experiences can complicate our present functioning. I'm happy to share my knowledge and skills with those individuals who seek to make a better life - for themselves or those they love. I wrote this book, Ten Lessons In Power Psychology, drawing upon the same instructional and clinical approach I use in my therapy sessions. It's specifically written for people who might never have the opportunity to visit a psychologist, either due to lack of insurance, scarcity of psychological help in their local geographical area, extreme shyness or whatever the reason. I wrote Ten Lessons in Power Psychology as the first of a series of books about using Power Psychology Techniques for Living (PTL). It's a short book, meant to be read and used, not just bought and put on a shelf. I used a relaxed style and commonsense language that could appeal to older children as well as adults and to a national and international readership. The format was specifically designed to focus the reader's mindful attention to the text and retain information through repetition of key principles. I'm both a licensed clinical psychologist and a school psychologist, with an appointment to Tufts University School Of Medicine. I have extensive experience in performing psychological evaluations - including neuro-psychological, forensic, school and disability assessments - and with working therapeutically with children, adolescents and families, including divorce and custody issues, criminal responsibility and competency matters. I have been trained in psycho-dynamic, cognitive, behavioral and play/sand therapy, and I now focus on a Cognitive Behavioral Psychological approach based in a Positive Psychology framework that recognizes strengths as well as weaknesses and doesn't focus on past problems, mistakes, blaming or shaming. I utilize that problem-solving Cognitive Behavioral approach, including EMDR, within a Positive Psychology framework because that methodology seems best suited to helping individuals change and move forward by developing skills, overcoming obstacles and exceeding expectations while minimizing the repetition of past mistakes.
