Chapter One

All Creatures of Our God and King

All creatures of our God and King, Lift up your voice and with us sing.

Praise! Whether we sing it or shout it, our God is worthy of it! For all the stars He placed in the evening sky, O praise Him! For the silvery moon that lights our way at night, O praise Him! Let the zebra praise Him for his stripes, and the lion for his roar!

Let us praise Him for who He is. He is the Creator of all things. We thank Him for all He has done. Alleluia is a Hebrew word that means "Praise the name of God." Have you ever praised God with a song? Let's all praise the Lord by singing, "Alleluia!"

Word Watch

I will praise You, O Lord, with my whole heart.
Psalm 9:1 NKJV

MY PRAYER FOR TODAY

Lord, I praise you as Creator of all things! Amen.

God Made Me

God made me, God made me. In my Bible book it says that God made me.

It was God who put the buzz in the bumblebee. It was God who made the flowers in all the colors of the rainbow. He made every creature that lives on the earth. But there's something God made that is even more special. Do you know what it is? He made you! He made you just the way you are.

The first man was called Adam. The first woman was Eve. You were created in the image of God, just as they were. And when He created you, He had a special purpose in mind. What is it? You'll have to find out as you grow up. The One who put the buzz in the bumblebee has a purpose for you and for me!

Word Watch
I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made.
Psalm 139:14

MY PRAYER FOR TODAY

Lord, how awesome you must be to have made all things—even me!

Who Built the Ark?

Who built the ark? Noah! Noah! Who built the ark? Brother Noah built the ark.

We usually think of an ark as a boat. But an ark is any place of shelter in a storm. Noah's ark happened to be a giant boat. It also sheltered his family from the terrible storm that flooded the whole world.

Noah found shelter from the rainstorm in an ark. But there are other kinds of storms. Our families can have problems. Our friends can be unkind. Kids can tease us and hurt our feelings. But be glad ... we have an "ark" from these storms too! God is our shelter in stormy times. Depend on Him when you are troubled. Cast your cares on Him because He is your ark.

Word Watch

For You have been a shelter for me,
a strong tower from the enemy.
Psalm 61:3 NKJV

The
Lord
is
my
"ark"

MY PRAYER FOR TODAY

Lord, you are my "ark"; you are my shelter in the storm. I love you, Lord. Amen.

Is Anything Too Hard for the Lord?

Have a little faith, believe it's true, And you will find there's nothing He can't do.

God made a promise to Abraham: his children would outnumber the stars in the sky. But Abraham and Sarah were very old. Sarah laughed at the thought of having children at her age. But God spoke and said, "Is anything too hard for the Lord?" At age ninety, Sarah had a little baby boy named Isaac.

The story of Abraham and Sarah teaches us to keep our eyes on the promise, not on the problem. There is nothing our God cannot do. He can heal the sick, raise the dead, calm a sea, and even make blind eyes see! So why would Abraham and Sarah doubt God's promise of children? They did not understand how great God is! Nothing is too hard for Him! He is able to keep His promises to you.

God Is So Good

God is so good, He's so good to me!

Isaac married a beautiful girl named Rebekah. They were about to get a big surprise! Rebekah was going to have twin boys. God is so good! But remember, God's goodness doesn't always mean a good time. Daniel faced a lions' den. And Jonah faced a whale. But God was still good!

Sometimes things happen that don't seem fair, and we can't understand why. But remember, the Bible says all things work together for the good of those who love God. Is there something in your life that you can't understand? It will work out for good ... because God is so good!

Word Watch

The Lord is good to all.
Psalm 145:9

God

MY PRAYER FOR TODAY

Lord, you have been good to me. Help me to be a blessing to others. Amen.

Whisper a prayer

Whisper a prayer To keep your heart in tune.

I once had an old guitar that I could not get in tune. The more I turned those tuning keys, the worse it sounded. In despair, I took my clanging guitar to a master musician. He listened to each string very carefully. Then he began to tune each one until that clanging guitar sounded like a new one. It just needed a master's touch to produce the right sound.

Sometimes our hearts can get "out of tune." We can get discouraged or even angry about something. We may try to fix it ourselves. But when nothing changes the "clang" in our heart, that's the time to go to the Master in prayer. Prayer changes things. It's like getting a spiritual tune-up.

Word Watch

Pray without ceasing.
1 Thessalonians 5:17 NKJV

Prayer
changes
things

MY PRAYER FOR TODAY

Lord, I want my heart to be in tune with yours! Amen.

We Are Climbing Jacob's Ladder

Behold, I am with you and will watch o'er you; Soldiers of the cross.

As Jacob slept, he dreamed of angels. They were walking on a stairway up to heaven. The Lord spoke to Jacob in a dream, making this promise, "Behold, I am with you and will watch over you." And that is still the promise of God to His children today.

The same God who created the earth; who parted a mighty sea before Moses; who protected Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego from the flames; who closed the mouths of lions and opened blind eyes with a touch—the same almighty God has promised to watch over you! So do not be afraid. The God who watched over Jacob will watch over you.

World Watch

I am with you and will watch
over you wherever you go.
Genesis 28:15

Lord

MY PRAYER FOR TODAY

Lord, thank you for watching over me throughout the day and night. I love you, Lord! Amen.

Joseph's Coat of Many Colors

Joseph had a coat of many colors. Many colors, many colors.

Joseph's father gave him a beautiful coat of many colors. His brothers were very jealous. Then Joseph told them of his dream: they would one day bow down before him. His brothers were very angry. All the unkind things that Joseph's brothers did started with a jealous heart.

Jealousy is not a good thing according to the Bible. We are to be content with what God has given us. Sometimes people do things we can't do. They get things we wish we had. In those moments, we must be careful that we don't become jealous or envious. Don't let jealousy or envy make its way into your heart. Be content with all that God has given you!

Word Watch

Let us not become conceited, provoking and envying each other.
Galatians 5:26

Let
us
be
content

MY PRAYER FOR TODAY

Lord, teach me to be content with what you have given me. Amen.

This Is the Day

This is the day the Lord has made. Let us rejoice and be glad in it.

Have you ever considered all the things God has done to make a day? First, God created light. Next, God created planet Earth. He set Earth spinning around the sun, which He also created. And while all of this is moving through millions of galaxies full of other suns and stars and planets, you lay sleeping in your bed.

Suddenly, the alarm clock goes off. Your dog jumps up and licks you on the face! You open your sleepy eyes, and say, "This is the day the Lord has made!" The next time you wake up grumpy, remember that God went to an awful lot of trouble to make your day. So rejoice and be glad!

Word Watch

This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.
Psalm 118:24 HCSB

Rejoice

Lord

MY PRAYER FOR TODAY

Lord, thank you for making today and for giving me eyes to see it. Amen.
