Called to investigate a double homicide in the offices of the Darren SPJ Group, Detective Lt. Marc Poland discovers that the founder and owner of the firm is Darren Jameson, whom he had divirced for adultery 18 years before. After sharing a drink and memories with Darren, Marc is shot as he leaves. Darren insists that Marc, a widower, and his two children move into her home while he recovers. This creates compications as they come to know each other again and resolve issues from their pasts, Darren's relations with her alienated family, and with a man she may still love. It also reopens police department scars, and an old jealousy, putting them all in danger.
