About the Author

Ryunosuke Akutagawa (1892-1927) is often referred to as the Father of the Japanese Short Story. Born in 1892, he is known for inventive and playful language, as well as his pessimistic, satirical social commentary. The premiere Japanese literary award is named for him.
Glenn Anderson was born and raised in the Marshall Islands. He has translated Ryunosuke Akutagawa, Natsume Soseki, and manga such as Tenken and Breathe Deeply. He presently lives and works abroad.
