8 Degrees of Yes: My Experiences with Truth, Transformation, and Healing
This book is my story, perception, experiences, and manifestation based on my willingness to forgive and no longer define myself as a victim of circumstances. God gives that which is good when we seek to follow the good path. It is verified in the Psalm of David:

Mercy and truth have met together;
Righteousness and peace have kissed.
Truth shall spring out of the earth,
And righteousness shall look down from heaven.
Yes, the Lord will give what is good;
And our land will yield its increase.
Righteousness will go before Him,
And shall make His footsteps our pathway. (Psalm 85:10–13)

We all have domination over our choice to live life at a higher frequency.
The fundamental elements of transformation are perception, experiences, and manifestation. Our view of life shapes our desire to live our life to the fullest. Perception shapes our degree of saying yes to life. Reflection allows us to recognize, forgive, and let go to shift our present view of life to a higher vibration. The higher vibration creates a higher degree of desire to live and let life unfold. Life events are lessons or blessings that shape our journey. Storytelling is adding the sequence and details to our experiences to understand. Sharing those stories with others builds collective hope to change unjust conditions or become a better person. Transformation is seen in the manifestation of our life structures. We see shifts in our financial, egoistic, livelihood, health, spiritual beliefs, world views, community, and relationships. We grow stronger in who we are and become beneficial to the community by giving the gift that our soul came to give. We say yes to life at a higher level and create more happiness and fulfillment in our lives. This is transformation and this is the 8 Degrees of Yes!

About the Author

Thelma Ruth (Truth) Akins currently teaches at Tehachapi Mountain Adult School within the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation. She also teaches at Bakersfield Community College in the Criminal Justice/Behavioral Science Department. She has experience in a work environment that shows the effects of criminal law in a unique way; thus, she focuses on having a grounded spiritual practice. She sees her work serving in an environment most do not want to be in. In this environment, it is important to practice transformational spiritual practices: faith, love, discernment, leadership, and hope.
Her journey began as a correctional officer, then correctional counselor, and now a teacher in a correctional environment. She earned a Bachelor of Criminal Justice Administration at San Diego State University, a Master of Advanced Study at the University of California, Irvine, and is currently a doctorate candidate at Grand Canyon University in the Educational Organizational Leadership Program. After studying criminology, law, and society, she has found education for liberation to be the root to success for individuals that have faced oppression and trauma at a young age. Knowledge is power and ignorance is not bliss. She also graduated from the Urban Education Program at the University of California, Los Angeles, with a teaching credential in secondary social sciences in 2016. Her research focused on hope, hopelessness, and urban educational leadership. Her focus is in curriculum with an essential theme of “All life matters,” spiritual principles, demonstrated through storytelling that involves significant life issues that we all face. She has studied peacekeeping, restorative justice, and conflict resolution. She is ordained and has a Doctor of Divinity from Universal Life Church and currently studies at the University of Metaphysics.
Her pedagogy includes viewing law and education with a critical lens, critical care, spirituality, and cultural community practiced within the prison walls.
This is the beginning of her public spiritual journey and a guide to anyone feeling called to a spiritual life. Her book of telling her own story brought awareness, passion, and healing in her own life. This book is the foundation for the Center of Truth, Speak Your Truth: Healing the World through Personal Testimonials. She practices the ancient wisdom of storytelling by telling her story.
