About the Author

Mustafa Mahamid, Ph.D., S.E., P.E., F.SEI, F.ASCE, is a Clinical Associate Professor at the University of Illinois-Chicago and is a member of the AccessEngineering Faculty Advisory Board. He previously worked as a practicing structural engineer at GRAEF and Skidmore, Owings & Merrill. He is a Fellow of ASCE’s Structural Engineering Institute and is active on various technical committees sponsored by ACI and ASCE/SEI.


The late James E. Stallmeyer and Edwin H. Gaylord, Jr. were both Professors of Civil Engineering at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign.
The late Charles N. Gaylord was a Professor of Civil Engineering at the University of Virginia.
