Overview

The people of South Village believe Sile, the blacksmith's son, is a simpleton. Nevertheless, because of his unnatural mastery of metal, he is compelled to join a company of elite blacksmiths journeying to Haset's Burn, the dwarfs' stronghold. For Sile this becomes a dangerous odyssey leading down unexpected paths. Again and again he confronts challenges that would have previously overwhelmed him.
As Sile struggles to survive the relentless pursuit of the demon's servants, remarkable companions, including Heart's Jewel, gather around him. They recognize that there is more to this young man than the people of South Village are aware of.

About the Author

Mr. Belanger is a retired teacher. With his wife Nancy, he lives in Massachusetts. They are a blended family with four adult children. He finds pleasure in many simple forms including reading and working in his garden.
He owes his love of fantasy literature to an aunt who gave her young nephew a book about King Arthur and his knights. Mr. Belanger did not appreciate that gift until one sweltering summer day when he had nothing to do. In desperation he reached for the book. Since then he has never lost his love of fantasy fiction.
