About the Author

Betsey Royce was only 7 years old when the American Civil War came to Franklin. Ten years later, she wrote her memoir of those events. Her granddaughter, Judith Riker Damon, later edited and illustrated that memoir. Judith Riker Damon is an artist living in Virginia.
