Overview

Bestselling LifeWay Bible study author Kelly Minter is known not only for her passion for God’s Word, but for her ability to foster community over an inviting, delicious, and nourishing meal. Her own lifelong love for cooking and gardening paired with her many travels to the Amazon with chef Regina Pinto has resulted in rich spiritual and culinary experiences that will inspire your cooking and gatherings.

More than an ordinary cookbook, A Place at the Table offers readers a chance to not only approach mealtimes with accessible recipes from a renowned chef, but also hear heartwarming, personal stories from Kelly herself and enjoy some spiritual encouragement too.

For Kelly, meals should be more than just ingredients and décor, though these enhance the experience. Food has historically gathered people together, and in this cookbook, Kelly points readers to just that—opening their tables so others can have a place to experience the love of God and fellowship of his people. After all, some of the most meaningful moments in the Bible were experienced around food.

This cookbook offers a delicious, unfussy selection of both well-known and novel dishes, and it also includes personal favorites from Kelly and Regina. Featuring fresh, whole or homegrown components, Kelly prioritizes the value of flavors that can only come with seasonal ingredients. As a bonus, there is supplemental material throughout, where the reader can hear more from Kelly and Regina about broths, seasonal drinks, canning, décor, growing herbs, and more.

In these pages, Kelly’s humor and warmth shine through in each story, and the stunning photography inspires all readers to put their hand to the joy of cooking, offering others not just a meal, but a place to belong.

Everything about this book reminds us to be intentional about our meals. My family and I have cooked many recipes and loved them all. There is something to be said about using simple and fresh ingredients. My eleven year old and I often cook together. As we thumb through the pages on canning, gardening, and fresh herbs we have begun to dream up new creations for our table. If you are looking for a gift this is perfect! Everyone can find something to love within the pages of A Place at the Table. I was blessed with an ARC from the publisher with out any expectations. By the way, the pesto salmon is perfection!

I have read Kelly Minter’s other books that have a few recipes scattered throughout, so I was very excited to hear she was doing a cookbook! The recipes are easy to follow and have all turned out delicious. I love the pictures and encouraging personal stories throughout this book that make it more than a cookbook.

A gem of a cookbook and so much more! Kelly and Regina have assembled a remarkable set of recipes based around healthy, whole ingredients that are not difficult to make (which is especially helpful for busy families). I received an advanced reader copy from B&H Publishing with some of the recipes to try in advance, and they are great! But there are more than recipes in this book. It is filled with helpful advice and tips, plus real-life stories that are worth reading again and again. I have already ordered extra copies for Christmas gifts this year.

This book will stay on the currently reading list because of all the yummy recipes. I received an advanced sampler copy from B & H Publishing to read and try some of the recipes for review. So far so good. The heart behind this collaboration is so encouraging. Kelly and Regina obviously love God, food, people, and fellowship. The desire to encourage people to gather around a table and make people feel loved and encouraged is felt throughout. It is also encouraging that the recipes are mostly healthy and very easy. The ingredients are readily available and also if needed items can be swapped out. The stories shared about food and life are very encouraging and add much to this already beautiful cookbook.

A Place At The Table is a beautiful cookbook! The pictures, the overall feeling, and recipies have captured my heart with messages of honesty, authenticity, and simplicity. Due to the wonderful tips (canning/gardening), personal stories, and many spiritual applications sandwiched in between recipes, I'm inspired to make the table a place of refreshment within, fellowship with others, and reminders of Christ Himself. One of my favorite lines in the book is, "Where in the world would we be as a species without the tomato?" LOL - I LOVE TOMATOES!

What impressed me most about this book was that the recipes are easy to read and follow. It is appealing to those of us who might not be cook savvy! This cookbook also give me vibrant colored pictures of the food I'm going to be cooking. Being a visual person, that is very important to me in a cookbook.

I received an advanced reader’s copy of this fabulous cookbook from B&H Publishing, and this is my honest review. If you have ever been through one of Kelly Minter’s Bible studies, you will quickly see that this cookbook is pleasantly different. First, her co-author, Regina Pinto, has helped assemble all of the recipes. There are words of encouragement, prayers, family stories and of course tasty recipes to share around your own table with family and friends. Each one is quick and easy to prepare, and many have a Mediterranean influence. I am anxious to finish reading Kelly’s first ever cookbook, and happy to be adding it to my cookbook shelf at home!

Kelly Minter and Regina Pinto have created a wonderful cookbook that is so much more than just a book of recipes. Beautiful photos, heartwarming stories of family time, and a constant focus on God and His love for us make this cookbook one that should grace everyone's kitchen.

I plan to purchase a number of copies of this fantastic cookbook when placing my Christmas order soon. I received an advanced reader copy from the publisher and my review is based on what I’ve read and already cooked. Not only did I enjoy cooking the recipes but my family and I loved eating them. The anecdotes shared added to the fun of cooking the recipes and made me feel connected to them. Go out and buy A Place At The Table; Fresh Recipes for Meaningful Gatherings.

If you are like me and want more from a cookbook than just a listing of recipes, this is your book. Kelly shares stories about her life as well as articles about canning, growing herbs, etc. with beautiful pictures interspersed throughout the book. The recipes aren't complicated or extremely time consuming. I have made the Summer Cherry Tomato & Basil Pasta and the Berry Trifle and both were simple to make and very tasty. Kelly really emphasizes the importance of food in people's lives and that it should be a joy and not the daily grind that we all feel these days. I for one needed to be reminded and am looking forward to making many more recipes in this book to enjoy with family & friends.

Beautiful, inviting, & practical all together! I received an ARC from B&H, & this is my honest review. As a pretty basic cook, I am happy to see recipes that are very doable for anyone & a variety of tasty options that I can definitely add to my repertoire. Plus, so many beautiful pictures to help me choose what's next! Not only did it give me new favorites, the personal stories in between inspire me to invite friends to make our own memories.

A book that is much more than a recipe book to me and beautiful enough to leave out on my coffee table! Stories from the real lives of the authors that encourage togetherness, gardening, canning, friendship, potlucks, recipes from the Amazon, inviting people around your table, and celebrating special occasions. The stories drew me in and the beautiful pictures enhanced the reading pleasure, making it a delight to read and to create meals from this book. It makes me want to fill my table with delicious food, family, and friends more often than I do.

I received an advance reader copy of this cookbook from the publisher, and here's my review. I've done several of the author's Bible studies, and she always includes recipes, playlist suggestions, etc. (i.e.: tools needed to curate a whole experience for your guests). So an entire cookbook of her recipes...yes, please! I love that in this book also includes canning and gardening, and the recipes make creative use of fresh, seasonal ingredients. So first up is roasted chicken with root vegetables, accompanied by simple salad (with the tastiest, easiest Dijon vinaigrette ever). Simple, yes; plain, I think not! Finish with old school peanut butter brownies, you can't go wrong. Delicious and highly recommended.

This cookbook is more than just recipes - though the recipes are amazing! My favorite is the Sun-Dried Tomato Bow Tie Pasta. The authors really focus on cooking as an expression of love, eating around the table, and fellowship with one another. The pictures and personal essays about gardening and communicating over delicious food really remind me why I love to cook and show hospitality. I highly recommend this cookbook!

A Place At The Table by Kelly Minter and Regina Pinto has renewed in me a Joy and Excitement for preparing, cooking and eating Together. I have tried several recipes; they all have been easy to prepare & incredibly tasty.    I love eating Local and Seasonal so this cookbook provided an authentic motivation to bring real food and conversion back to my table.    The authors provide such a wide medley of expertise and useful ideas including tips for canning and gardening, heartfelt stories, and a variety of delicious offerings. I have thoroughly enjoyed digging into this book.    The hardcover cookbook is beautiful, the pages are colorful and easy to read. It lays opens flat which is a big deal because many books (especially when new) I have to place a can/jar to keep my place. It is a lovely gift idea too, especially now in autumn when everyone is preparing for gathering family & friends around the holiday table.

This is so much more than a cookbook. The authors actually take moments in the book to share stories that revolve around meal time to make you see how food isn’t just for the body but also your soul. The authors have many different ethnic recipes so you don’t feel like you are making the same foods. They also use fresh ingredients and teach you how to make something that seems complicated, simple. I am excited to not only try but share the recipes with friends and family and create our own place at the table together.

I am so impressed by this new cookbook by Kelly Minter and Regina Pinto. The recipes I have made so far have been hits at the dinner table. The thoughtful stories and kitchen tips scattered throughout make this more than just your run of the mill cookbook. It has all that you expect in a cookbook - a great variety of recipes and easy to follow instructions. In addition, Kelly adds food for the mind, spirit and soul as she shares personal stories and kitchen tips along with tasty recipes. Grab this cookbook and get one for friends and family, too. You’ll be blessed!

Kelly Minter’s cookbook not only contains scrumptious, easy-to-prepare recipes, it’s styled beautifully! I received an ARC of the book and this is my honest review. One of my favorite things about the book is that there are pictures of all the recipes so you see ahead of time what it looks like. There are also practical tips provided. The prep time allotments are realistic - I haven’t found this always to be the case when using other cookbooks. There are several quick, delicious recipes that are healthy and easy to prepare on a busy weeknight. I also like that it’s uniquely organized around short stories that encourage the relational aspect of sharing a meal. For example, if you’re planning for a crowd, you’ll find lots of options in one chapter designed with that in mind. That alleviates guesswork and stress out of entertaining. The index provides a logical method of locating specifics types of recipes. The book contains 90 recipes to suit every palate. Most of all, I love the heart behind this cookbook which is to help recapture the lost art of hospitality and provide easy ways to deepen genuine community. This cookbook would be a fabulous gift for both seasoned and beginner cooks. Highly recommended!

This is one of those recipe books you will use over and over again. You will pass it down for generations to come. I of course could not highly recommend if I had not tried a few recipes... my favorite so far has been the Cilantro Chicken Enchiladas! So yummy!!! I’ve tagged so many to try and I know quite a few will become family favorites! Of course recipes aren’t all you get with this book! You also get to learn more about what it means to create a family meal time or even when sharing a meal with friends or neighbors. Sharing your faith too. In this day it’s so hard to have a family meal but we are challenged to try... think of all those memories you will be making! I was really excited about the canning section! I’ve always wanted to learn to can! From Hospitality, how to decorate... and more. I received an ARC of the book from the Publisher for my honest review. One person found this helpful
