A Puppy's Tell-All Tale by June Stephenson

Suddenly taken from her warm, nuzzling litter-mates and handed to an old couple, the puppy writes to her breeder, Susan, of her lonesomeness, and her longing for Susan’s lap. In her new home, with new sounds, and a cage to sleep in all by herself, she pines for her brothers and sisters. But after many days, the love she feels from her new owners begins to replace her old memories.

She adjusts to her new fetching life, digging up flowers and carrying the new plantings, soil and all, into the house. She chews and twists reading glasses left on the table, leaves her teeth indentations on the wallet left on the desk, and does not understand the scolding. She is heartbroken when she hears her “parents” talking of giving her away, and overjoyed when they decide to keep her.

She enjoys the dog park, but struggles with the adjustment when her “family” moves into a retirement home, and even to a different state where she travels by airplane. A Puppy’s Tell-all Tale is the five-year life from a puppy’s viewpoint.
