About the Author

Donovan Shilling, a native of Fairport, New York, has been a science teacher and is now a retired Brighton Elementary and Middle School Principal. He has made Penfield, New York his home for many years. During the past twenty or more years, he served as an instructor at the Gannett School at the Rochester Museum and Science Center.

Many accounts of local history have been written by Don Shilling. They deal with historic sites, dramatic events and the colorful characters from Rochester, New York's past. His articles dealing with unique aspects of Rochester's history have appeared in many area publications. Donovan has also written five books on Rochester's remarkable past.
