We meet Tracy, a single mother with a hearing-impaired son, Lucas, in Magnolia Grove Book 1. Here, in A Year of Extraordinary Moments, her story and that of her young son continues. Her sister is married and following a new job and so Tracy takes over the family paper. Her life is going well, her son is flourishing, and she may have a new man in her life but then her ex, Dominic,  shows up. Can Tracy let go of her past and build a new and brighter future for her and Lucas? I had a bit of a love/hate relationship with Tracy in the first book, but this book focused more on her, and she began to grow on me. She grows into a responsible, wonderful mother. I'm glad she seems to be on a path to peace and happiness. Dominic makes himself known once again in selfish ways, and he makes me so angry. I can't get used to his selfish ways. This book was a great story of love and hope for brighter futures. Tracy, Gabriel, Alice, and little Lucas, warm my heart. The ending had me in tears. It was just beautiful. This was another heartwarming story by an amazing author. I can't wait to read more from Bette.

Thank you NetGalley and Bette Lee Crosby for an ARC of "A Year of Extraordinary Moments!. It's the sequal to "The Summer of New Beginnings" and I loved catching up with the Briggs family and getting to know Alice who is Dominic's grandmother. This story focuses more on Tracy as she continues to find her path in life and learns what's important for her and Lucas. Bette always creates such a special group of characters that could be a family in your neighborhood with everyday problems which makes them so easy to relate to. Please choose this wonderful story as your next read!

Bette Lee Crosby knows how to write books that keep you glued to your seat. A wonderful book with great characters that grab you in, and have you wanting to know more about them. I love Tracy Brigg's growth throughout the book, realizing her true passion, and coming to grips with everything that is thrown her way. Her sister Meghan is also a wonderful character, and we learned a lot about her as well. Dominic, the father of Tracy's son, shows his true colors. Alice, Dominic's grandmother who is gravely ill, is a beautiful person who only wants to make sure everything is right before she passes on. This book grabbed my attention, and I couldn't stop reading it. I highly recommend A Year of Extraordinary Moments.

Earlier this year, I read a book titled The Summer of New Beginnings by Bette Lee Crosby (see review HERE). It was the first book in a series called the Magnolia Grove series. I had heard of Ms. Crosby before, but despite the fact that she's written eighteen books, I just never had the opportunity to read one.  When I finally had the opportunity to read The Summer of New Beginnings, I knew I had found an author to add to my "favorite author" list! As an added bonus, I'm happy to say that Ms. Crosby has become more than just an author whose books I read -- she is a real person who connects with her readers (and book bloggers like me). She hosts Facebook live conversations and I've even had the amazing opportunity to have a few late night private message conversations with her! She's an awesome, elegant and gracious woman who is also a fantastic author! I'm honored to have come to know her. So coincidentally, I am part of BookSparks' Fall Reading Challenge 2018 (#FRC2018), and the books for this challenge included the second book in the Magnolia Grove series titled A Year of Extraordinary Moments. I honestly read this book in one day, cover to cover, and I was kind of bummed that it was over when I read the last page because I had to accept that the story was finished. Before I get into the synopsis, I want to say that I've come to realize Ms. Crosby really knows how to build characters in her books. She makes the characters very believable, and she provides them with flaws, defects, personalities and behaviors that readers can identify with. Best of all, Ms. Crosby's books are heartwarming and a bit mysterious, with a few unexpected twists tossed in for good measure, keeping readers engaged throughout the story. While A Year of Extraordinary Moments can be read as a standalone, this book does begin where The Summer of New Beginnings leaves off.  The first character we meet is Alice DeLuca, who is terminally ill and her time is running out. She longs to connect again with her grandson, Dominic. His mother, and Alice's daughter, abandoned Dominic, and Alice raised him. Tracy Briggs has finally gotten her act together and is raising Dominic's son, Lucas alone with the help of her mother, Lila and her sister, Meghan.  Lucas is hearing-impaired and is enrolled at a wonderful school. Tracy is is running her deceased father's business with the help of her sister, Meghan, but she only does so because Meghan wants to keep the business alive. Meghan is happily married and she and her husband are running a veterinary business together, but helps Tracy with the family business from time to time. Just when everything is going great for Tracy, in pops her ex (Dominic) to wreck havoc on her life. I absolutely loved how the plot unfolded in this story and I'm looking forward to a book #3 (and hoping so).  I really want to follow along with Tracy's new career and relationship and I want to see how Lucas grows up!! I have received an advanced reader copy of a digital copy of this book from Ms. Crosby herself through NetGalley. It is also part of the BookSparks Fall Reading Challenge 2018 (#FRC2018), but I am posting a positive review because I LOVED, LOVED, LOVED this book! Thank you Ms. Crosby!!

udos to Bette Lee Crosby, Author of “A Year of Extraordinary Moments” for pulling my heartstrings and writing such an emotional realistic, enjoyable, delightful, memorable, and captivating novel. I had the most enchanting visit this afternoon reading the sequel to “The Summer of New Beginnings”. I loved the first book, and I loved this as well. The Genres for ” A Year of Extraordinary Moments” are Fiction, Women’s Fiction, Romance with a dash of suspense and mystery.. The timeline of the story is in the present and goes back to the past when it pertains to the characters or events in the story. I highly recommend this novel to readers that enjoy family drama, sister relationships, and mother and daughter, and mother and son relationships. Bette describes her colorful cast of characters, as people who could live in our neighborhood. Each of the characters have their own set of problems, and day-to-day problems. Some characters have shady motives and think of themselves. I appreciate that Bette Lee Crosby writes about the importance of family, emotional support, and somehow everything seems to work out. Bette adds the touch of a beloved pet, and also shows the needs for acceptance for children and adults with disabilities. In this wonderful book, we learn and see how Tracy Briggs and her hearing-impaired young son are doing. Tracy is trying to step up to the plate and be the best and responsible Mom. Is there romance in Tracy’s future? What could prevent Tracy from the happiness she deserves? There are some intriguing new characters and some wonderful friends from the first book. Although this could be read as a stand-alone, I thing that reading the first book would enhance the experience. I received an ARC from NetGalley for my honest review. Read less

In this very special story, lives twist and turn and something extraordinary happens with the characters that gives the possibility of hope and love. Excellent read. I received a copy of this book from the author and Net Galley. This is my own personal opinion. No review was required.

A Year Of Extraordinary Moments is the perfect follow up to The Summer Of New Beginnings! How can you not love this family with all the problems that they face and what they do in order to protect their loved ones. This book is focused more on Tracy's story with how she is helping her hearing-impaired son learn to talk and a new romance until a certain ex-boyfriend by the name Dominic, comes back into town. Adding Dominic's grandmother to the mix just made this story even more likable for the story that she had with her and why it was so important to be involved with Tracy's son before it was too late. Having that ending was perfect for everything because certain people got what was coming to them and others were finally able to have their dreams come true but I'm not gonna tell you who that it because y'all need to read this awesome book! Having never read Bette Lee Crosby's books until this series has made me become a fan of hers for the ability to draw you into this world that you can see playing out in front of you while reading it! It would be so awesome to have a third book in this series but nonetheless, I'm going to be reading whatever this great Author puts out next!! Thank You to Bette Lee Crosby for this awesome great 2nd book in a series that I hope doesn't end for a while!! I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book from NetGalley!

What a heartfelt, amazing, uplifting story! The second book in the Magnolia Grove series, and this novel has it all! Meghan, Tom, Tracy, Gabriel and Lucas are on the path to happiness. Lila is learning to move on without George by her side and her girls leaving the "nest". Alice DeLuca is dying, and needs to find truth before time runs out. When she asks her Grandson Dominic to come to Magnolia Grove, she has a motive. Dominic hates Magnolia Grove and all it stands for. Wait- maybe there is something he wants here and perhaps he will be able to claim it! This is a powerful story of family, true love and of life. You will laugh and you will definitely cry! I loved it. Thank you Bette Lee Crosby!

Reviewed by Romuald Dzemo for Readers' Favorite A Year of Extraordinary Moments by Bette Lee Crosby is a beautiful tale of romance and difficult choices. All that matters to Tracy Briggs now is taking care of her son with a hearing problem and guiding him to talk while taking care of her family's magazine business. A new romance is beginning to bloom with her son's teacher and Tracy is sure her life is getting back on the right track. Then her son's father resurfaces and wants a second chance, and he won't take no for an answer. Torn between her past and a future she can't tell, Tracy has to make a choice and this becomes even more complicated when an elderly woman comes into the equation. In the tradition of Nicholas Sparks, this author weaves a tale that explores the choices of the heart. I enjoyed the complexity in the relationships between the characters. It is no wonder that character is one of Bette Lee Crosby's fortes. For instance, the protagonist has had many hurdles to overcome in the past and she has two challenging things to handle - a child with a hearing impediment and a business to run - and coupled with these is her need for love. The relationships are complex and that is why the art of making a choice becomes the focus of the conflict. A Year of Extraordinary Moments is ingeniously plotted and cleverly written, with enough suspense and emotional intensity to leave the reader with only one option: keep turning the pages.

This book had me feeling all the feels - happy, sad, joy, angst, etc.! I enjoyed reading about the continued growth for Tracy and how everything was going for her and Lucas. You know that Dominic wouldn't just leave everyone alone and would be back like a virus. Every character can be easily related to someone you may know and you find yourself feeling like a part of the story. Definitely a story with extraordinary moments throughout! A heartwarming read for your next night in!

Once again, Bette Lee Crosby hits it out of the park! Her novels are filled with warmth, love, and just general good feelings. You don't find sex or violence in her books, but you will find well-developed characters and real-life situations. She is very good at drawing people with her words, and I enjoy getting to read about the range of emotions they go through in an attempt to get their heavenly-ever-after. I read her books when I get discouraged with life, because the good guys usually win, and that's life-affirming and hopeful, especially in these scary times. We need more hope and good people in our lives, and you will find it in Magnolia Grove! Take a break and enjoy A Year of Extraordinary Moments. It will be an extraordinary moment in your life.

GRIPPING! A Year of Extraordinary Moments (Magnolia Grove #2) by Bette Lee Crosby is is gripping! This book may be read as a stand alone, but to be best understood, it needs to be read in order in the Magnolia Grove Series. Crosby is masterful in crafting stories that deal with families and peeling back all the layers and finding the backstory that’s not obvious at first glance. That’s particularly true of this novel. Her characters are realistic, complex and lovable. The relationships between the characters are easy to understand because they are the types many experience within their own families - responsible children, irresponsible children who turn out all right & those children that just won’t get their lives together regardless of how old they are. Crosby also includes characters from a toddler to senior adults and they all play significant roles and she shows the importance of cross-generational relationships. She shows the wisdom of the oldest being passed down to the youngest. One of my favorite parts of this novel is when an old hidden Bucket List is used to bring about freedom to two generations of a family. Crosby peels back all the layers - and reveals how the older generation teaches the younger - often when neither has a clue the “teaching” is actually taking place - as it should be. I was provided an ARC of this novel by Lake Union Publishers and NetGalley. The opinions expressed here are completely my own and without influence. I have preordered a copy for my own personal library.

I loved this book sooo much! These characters are so real to me. Love the sisters, and mom. The men in their lives as well. The addition to Grandma Alice was so special. I was a little worried for a while that the happy ever after might not come about, but Bette made it happen believablely so. Truly a heartwarming series. Well done Bette Lee Crosby! Thank you.

This is the sequel to The Summer of New Beginnings(Magnolia Grove #1). There are some up's and down's in this book. The primary focus was on Tracy and Alice DeLuca and Tracy's son Lucas [who has a hearing problem]. Alice is Dominic's [Tracy's ex] grandmother. I loved all the characters except Dominic. Tracy was trying to get her life on track when she realizes her true calling is working with children. Tracy's relationship with Gabriel is staring to blossom. Alice calls Dominic to ask him to come home telling him that she doesn't have much time left and wants to spend as much time as she can with him. Dominic returns home. Alice tells Dominic that he needs to do the right thing by his son Lucas, well Dominic ends up telling Alice that Lucas wasn't his son. He says Tracy cheated on him. Alice decides to hire a Private Investigator and learns the truth. Alice then decides to go see Tracy and get her side of the story. Alice tells Dominic that she was leaving the farm to Lucas. Alice then starts to have a relationship with Tracy and Lucas, she even went to see the school that Lucas goes to. Then one day Dominic decides to go see Lucas and Tracy comes outside and Dominic tells Tracy he wants Lucas to get to know his grandma and they get into an argument and Tracy tells him that his grandma has gotten to know Lucas as she has been visiting and spending time with Lucas. Dominic left in a huff and went to get drunk and when he went home to talk to his grandma she wasn't there so he called Alice's friend Charlie only to find out that she was in the hospital so he goes to the hospital in his drunken state and is told he needs to come back during visiting hours. Dominic's grandma passes away. During the visitation a lady [who turned out to be Real Estate Agent] put her business card in his hand. Dominic did call her and was told the farm and land was worth a whole lot of money. Dominic and a friend came up with a plan and Dominic hired a lawyer to sue Tracy for Guardianship/Custody/Joint Custody of Lucas. When Alice died I had tears in my eyes for Alice, Tracy, Lucas and Gabriel. To find out everything that happened you really need to read this book. If you read book The Summer of New Beginnings (Magnolia Grove #1) then you MUST read this book.

A Year of Extraordinary Moments by Bette Lee Crosby is the second A Magnolia Grove Novel. Dominic DeLuca left Magnolia Grove three and a half years ago and swore that he would never return. His grandmother, Alice calls telling Dominic that her cancer has returned, and she only has months to live. Alice would like him to return home to help her finalize details. Dominic reluctantly returns to Magnolia Grove, but he is not prepared for his grandmother’s interference in his life. Tracy Briggs lives with her mother, Lila and her hearing impaired son, Lucas and manages the Snip ‘N Save magazine that her father began. Tracy has turned her life around since she left Dominic and returned home. Her sister, Meghan is happy working alongside her husband, Tom at the Kindness Animal Clinic. She wants Tracy to have a fulfilling personal life and encourages her to go out with Gabriel Hawke. When Gabriel asks Tracy to accompany him to an awards dinner, it is beginning of their relationship. Alice is unable to get a straight answer from Dominic regarding Lucas’ parentage, and she decides to take matters into her own hands. Alice sets out to get answers and ends up having a special relationship with her great-grandson as well as Tracy. It leads Alice to make decisions that will lead to unexpected repercussions. Come along to Magnolia Grove for A Year of Extraordinary Moments. A Year of Extraordinary Moments is not a standalone novel. You need to read The Summer of New Beginnings before embarking on A Year of Extraordinary Moments. I did find the story to be a slow starter. The beginning was off-putting to me, and I wish the author had started A Year of Extraordinary Moments on a different note. However, the pace slowly increases, and the story becomes more intriguing. By the halfway mark, I was engrossed and kept reading until I finished. I was surprised to find foul language and intimate relations before marriage included in A Year of Extraordinary Moments. I thought A Year of Extraordinary Moments was a Christian novel. The characters were well-developed, and I like that they keep evolving (except for one). Alice was such a loving character. You could feel the love she had for family and the pain she was experiencing from her illness and Dominic’s actions. The point-of-view alternates between Meghan, Dominic, Tracy, and Alice. It allows the reader to see each person’s perspective and understand what they are thinking and feeling. However, it is also distracting and made it hard to become fully engaged in the book. Bette Lee Crosby portrays what a family experiences when a child is hearing impaired. In this book, Lucas is learning to speak with the aid of his cochlear implant and speech therapy. I appreciated that the author shows the difference between a job and career that someone enjoys. It is important to find your niche and follow your dreams. I did feel the romance between Gabriel and Tracy was rushed. One minute Tracy states they are just friends and then he asks her out for which he receives a resounding yes (I experienced whiplash at her sudden change of mind). I was happy to see them become a couple, but their relationship seemed rushed. There are some loving moments with Alice, Tracy, Charlie, and Lucas that will touch your heart. A Year of Extraordinary Moments has family love and drama, friendship, romance, hope, faith and tension blended into one absorbing novel.

Family, relationships, and connections are the heart of this novel. Tracy Briggs has had a tough time, but things finally seem to be coming together for her. Her son is healthy and making strides, and, outside of her family, Gabriel Hawke has been a big part of moving forward and putting her son’s father, Dominic DeLuca, well into the past. When Alice DeLuca comes knocking on her door hoping to meet her great-grandson, Tracy has some decisions to make about the future of her small family. This is the second novel in the Magnolia Cove series, but this was my first visit. The author did a great job of giving background, and I didn’t feel lost, but I did feel reading the first novel would have helped give me a better understanding of the dynamic between Tracy and her sister, as well as the family magazine’s importance. This novel pulled out so many emotions…love, anger, and tears. The story was well-written with true-to-life characters. There is some romance, but this more about family: the one you are born with and the one you make for yourself. I really enjoyed this novel, and flew through it. I can’t wait to read more by this new-to-me author. #AYearofExtraordinaryEvents #BetteLeeCrosby #LakeUnion

Thank you to NetGalley, Lake Union and Bette Lee Crosby for this wonderful book. This is such a good book. It will pull at your heartstrings and make you feel such strong emotions. I laughed in placed and did some hard crying in others. This book has all the emotions and you feel them all. It pulls you in and won’t let go until the very last sentence. Wonderful characters. You will fall in love with most and dislike, very strongly, others. There are parts that just really made me do some very ugly crying but I understand they had to be included. It was spot on perfect in my opinion. Bette Lee Crosby always delivers the best stories. I expect no less from her and am never ever disappointed. I’ve read every book she ever wrote and loved them all. This one is my new favorite. It’s so good. A must read after you read the first in the series,The Summer Of New Beginnings. I can’t wait for the next book by Ms Crosby. This is a big 5 star book.
