Description: This book accomplishes the difficult task of summarizing the recent advances in the understanding and application of imaging technology for the diagnosis and management of intracranial and spinal lesions. This is an updated book, although still in its first edition.
Purpose: The purpose is to address the current understanding of complex image-guided surgery of the brain and spine. The objectives are worthy in this ever-evolving field of neurosurgery. The book clearly meets the authors' objectives
Audience: The audience is composed primarily of neurosurgical residents and fellows who, during their training, realize the importance of understanding the current applied computer technology to surgery. The authors are credible authorities in the field and deserve full attention to their ideas.
Features: Fifty-four expert authors contribute 25 chapters in this book. The contents comprise the broad realm of neuroradiology and applied neuroimaging, in particular when it is related to surgical applications of localized lesions and neuronavigation procedures of the brain and spine. Well-known authorities in the field of neurosurgery and neuroradiology author the chapters in this book which directs the reader into a different universe of neurosurgery — the one that will remain constant throughout the next generation of procedures that will be not only safer but also more precise. The pictures are of the highest quality. The price is a bit high for this book, but the authority and leadership of the authors justify the price.
Assessment: This is a must-have book in any neurosurgery library. It should be in orthopedic and neurology libraries as well.
