Albert Anastasia Puts Tough Joe Amberg On The Spot Brooklyn, New York September 30, 1935

Albert Anastasia met with Louis Capone, Pittsburgh Phil Strauss and others before calling out a hit on Joseph "Tough Joe" Amberg on September 30, 1935. One of four brothers Amberg was perhaps the most dominant Jewish Mafia figure in Brooklyn at the time. He was slain in execution style in a garage in the Brownsville section. Two men dressed as garage mechanics and another nicely dressed man carried out the assassinations of Amberg and his chauffeur/bodyguard Morris Kessler. A policeman shouted at the "mechanics" before they fled on foot. Both men returned and piled into a '35 Plymouth which was the getaway car.
