All Sorts Of People!

All Sorts Of People

Every traveller, old or young, international or national, meets people. These can be fellow travellers or locals. You never met them before but while you are observing them, you see a behaviour you didn’t expect. Either nice or strange, it catches your attention. You try hard but you can’t get your head around it. And when you are about to uncover the story behind these people, they leave and you will never know if it is true or a figment of your imagination because you will most likely, never meet them again.

Helen Varras and her late husband travelled Europe with their motor home. They too met many people but observed even more.

Helen is an author of fiction stories and novels and could not resist creating a tale around the people they observed. She wrote many short stories and the first twelve resulted in this e-book.

You will meet people like John and Susan, Roger and Ingrid who live through happy, funny or dubious times.  And no doubt they will remind you of people you met before: “Oh, John, do you remember that woman near the harbour in….”

 We wish you pleasant reading!

“I knew it was fiction but when I finished reading, I wondered how the characters in the book are doing now”
Annette

“All Sorts Of People is funny, intriguing and surprising”
Krista

“The stories, a figment of the imagination of the author, are based on many trips with the motor home through Europe. Travellers will often recognize the scenes. A lovely book to dream away with”

About the Author

Helen lives with her animals somewhere in the countryside in The Netherlands. She learned to read at a very young age and at the age of ten, published her own neighbourhood news paper which she typed at the old type writer of her father. She did not only write the stories but also designed cross words (she still likes cross words). The news paper how ever, did not last long; children have other things to do and discover. Later in life she wrote columns in magazines and during the holidays, long letters to home. Reading is still her passion which she shared with her late husband and both couldn’t part from books in general. Although she embraces the digital book (which saves her a lot of extra weight during holidays), the paper book is still favourite: “You need to hold a book, smell and feel it. Nothing beats real paper!” It was not until an older age and thanks to the digital era, that she started writing her first book. The world around her tickles her fantasy and causes her many pleasant writing hours. The name Varras has a very special meaning to Helen. It is an old name from Finland for a large crow bar, used by the Finish agricultural workers in Sweden in the 18th and 19th century to remove large boulders from the empty forests to create rich soil for agricultural purposes. Due to several events in her life, Helen used the ‘varras’ to lift her future to a next level. The unexpected death of her husband was another important stage in life to handle the ‘varras’. ‘Observaties’ was the very first book she published, on request she translated it in English and named it ‘All sorts of people’ Helen is also writing a novel (2017), visit her web site to stay tuned. Helen Varras is a pseudonym.
