About the Author

Matt Strong started working on cars, trucks and tractors when he was ten. Since then he has been involved in every facet of vehicle building (OEM and hot rodding) and repair. Spent four years working on jet aircraft and visited Southeast Asia for two years. He worked as a line mechanic during his first two years of college and then at GM – Engineering (quality control and MVSS compliance) at the St. Louis Assembly Plant. He spent several years driving for AMC in drag racing and closed track racing. (He raced a total of seven years.) When Matt quit racing he started writing for the industry publication Hot Rod Industry News and then for other automotive magazines in the original Petersen Publishing fold.

Matt also worked in Mexico and South America for Ogilvy & Mather, a large international advertising agency. He did work for Uniroyal, Volkswagen de Mexico, and other automotive accounts using his extensive technical background. At the same time he started writing for Spanish language enthusiast magazines and became involved in Pro-Rally in Mexico.

He returned to the U. S. and went back to writing about cars, light trucks and even big diesel rigs for several magazines. He spent two years teaching Automotive Technology at Richmond High School. He now lives just outside of New York City.
