College. A place to grow, learn new views, and learn to express oneself and gain knowledge. We send our children off with the hopes they will be more prepared for life as adults. Our children go with the dreams of wanting more.
Enter "the professor". They are the ones with the power to help direct the aspiring hopefuls down a path of success. The students will leave with the honor of accomplishing what is sometimes impossible for others. They will have that "leg up" and be "one step ahead".
Safe expectation? What if after all the years of saving and expecting...after sharing the pride and joy that our children "made it", something quite the opposite happened instead? Will we live long enough to care for the next generation should they be rendered helpless?
Never underestimate the innocent good souls who believed in a better future, especially if it is their offspring and life's work that comes home degraded.
